Health Allocations should be at least 5% of GDP
As a percentage of GDP, govt allocation to health has declined from 0.37% to 0.29% between 2020-21 Actual Expenditure and 2025-26 BE. Although in nominal terms, there's some increase, if we adjust to inflation, it's not much. Great analysis by Indranil

Social Determinants of Health Approach is neccessary
TB is going nowhere till inequity is addressed. TB is a social disease. Till everyone gets good quality food, air, and housing TB will be around. The biomedical approach to TB wont help in eliminating the disease.

The richest 10% are responsible for 50% of emissions. The poorest 50% are responsible for 8% of emissions. We can't keep ignoring this stark reality.

Hope one day politician would follow his footsteps to establish NHS in India
A statue with pigeon droppings ; During a stroll in #Cardiff spotted this statue. On closer look it was of a man who made a huge impact on global healthcare ; Aneurin Bevan founder of the #NHS . The idea of universal healthcare free to everyone at point of care funded by taxes was (& is) a key signature of a welfare state. Bevan was opposed by many including the #BMA but stood his ground Of course the #NHS has many challenges but still remains one of the most people oriented & rational healthcare system. That’s why British citizens , healthcare workers & even govts including votaries of the free market don’t let go. Will someone please Cardiff city to clean the statue of pigeon droppings though Bevan doesn’t seem particularly perturbed ?@NHSEngland @TheBMA @bmj_latest @KamranAbbasi
