In our Op Ed, we discuss how childcare is a social determinant of health. Stress matters in parenthood. Parental mental health matters. We need to stop devaluing parenting and caring for children and seal the cracks in the social infrastructure.

IMHO the term superwoman is gaslighting. We hear that all the time with mothering too. If we can't just be normal mortals and provide excellent care something is seriously wrong.

I dislike the “superwoman” rhetoric in medicine. I have no desire to be that. I’m lowkey lazy. I love rest. I don’t want to “do it all.” I will take full maternity leave; I don’t want to answer emails on vacation. I wish I saw that practiced (& even celebrated) in my field.
