Prince wanted kids to see his concerts. I took my son to the Musicology tour when he was 6. I took him to the 20th anniversary at Paisley and we got to watch the whole concert again. That concert 20 years ago gave him an appreciation of music that most of his generation has lost.

Casual Prince fans didn’t buy Prince music when he was alive. The Estate needs to stop catering to those folks and give us real fans The Second Coming, Black is the New Black, Love Thy Will Be Done (Gatsby version), Piano & Mic box set, Celebration 2002 box set, etc.

I think the Prince Estate is going to attempt to honor and preserve his black genius and his place in black history going forward. This will be problematic for the people that want 1984 Prince to be his legacy rather than the person that he evolved to become.

Liner notes from Prince’s live album. Prince knew me and loved me because he saw me at his shows for 37 years. He loved that I took my kids to his shows. He has talked to them, brought them and me up on stage several times, etc.

An honest review of Celebration 2023: This was not a celebration about Prince. During the few moments when they focused on Prince, they got it right. The 2 hours of concert footage and 40 minutes of vault material was breathtaking.

I'm not trying to Purple Rain on anyone's Parade, but seeing a bunch of 65 year olds in concert without Prince is not exciting to me. It is actually a turn off. It would be far more exciting to see unreleased concerts of Prince and the Revolution from 83-86 instead.

These same people only like Prince because he went commercial in 1984 and have no idea of what funk is. Exodus is funkier than anything he did in the 80’s. There was nothing commercial about Rainbow Children but they hated that because he talked about being black.

Honest review of Celebration Day 1: Listening session was exactly what we wanted. Lunch was okay but an unnecessary expense that drove up the cost. Screening session was okay because it was previously unseen footage but it was too similar to Syracuse. The VIP
tour was awful.
