@msmoony_ @iamthemightyoak @no_earthquake Are you referring to temporary exhibits? If so, I’m sure that happens in Europe too. I’d be surprised, however, if this were true of any permanent collections (though I’m just an amateur museum goer myself, so what do I know?).

@ejoomf @no_earthquake Right - the exceptions identified in this thread (Guernica, La Joconde, Starry Night) are among the most famous in the history of panting. Apologies to Friedrich, but this painting has a ways to go to reach that status.

@no_earthquake Really, with the exception of Proust, most early 20th century French lit fell off (Gide, Mauriac, Claudel)

@_ryanruby_ Anyway, it existed in cafés and weird little séances before in manifestos, so it’s a bit older

@_ryanruby_ I guess it depends on when one thinks Surrealism began. He’s almost exactly the same age as Aragon’s Une vague de rêves, it seems.

@RealPrzDennison @travis_view Exactly! This might be an explanation of why he *said* he would buy Twitter, but had to be compelled to do so. This seems to be widely forgotten.

@gabrielwinant I dunno, Bernie got in some trouble in 2020. Not for anything he said, but for saying it on Rogan’s podcast.

@NeeedlesEye Blinken added, “Israel’s ‘bend-but-don’t-break’ defensive philosophy has served them well in the ‘red zone’ all season.”

@NeeedlesEye Ahhh! Literary scholar working on an article for a history journal here. They were not impressed with the amount of secondary lit in an earlier draft, and also criticized some for being too old. Ah well.
