It’s scandalous that a rich country like the UK is taking badly-needed nurses from poorer countries. @TheGreenParty will reverse this by improving our staffing with better pay etc & will reach out to other countries to improve their health services

While the #Conservatives lurch from leader to leader, millions of people are suffering the consequences of their total inability to sort out the crisis in #health and #social care. #Ambulance queues, #hospital bed unavailability, #social care woefully lacking, #nursing shortages

@natalieben the reasons given for my suspension were 1/ that I gave my views at a hustings without also sharing the party’s views /policies And 2/the fear that I may continue to do so What are your thoughts on this, esp contra the ‘no whip’ principle you’re so proud of?

When airlines have fewer staff, they cancel flights. But GPs are expected to carry on regardless of vacancies. Burnout and early retirement are inevitable consequences of this rising ‘insufferable demand’

The enthusiasm with which they scrutinise ordinary citizens’ benefits is mysteriously lacking when it comes to rich people defrauding the state - through plain fraud or its many disguises- tax evasion, tax dodging, creative accounting or criminal activity How many corrupt

In a study by the DWP, DLA fraud was found to be 0.1%, rounded to £0m, PIP fraud was 0%, and PIP overpayments were 0.4% but that was all due to DWP errors. The study into Disability Fraud cost more than disability fraud. Yet they have hired MORE people to investigate.

This. The #NHS is woefully short of staff, and this government is doing nothing about it. #Brexit , lack of workforce planning, #Covid related sickness, excessive workloads, inadequate pay, all have contributed to this situation

This is an important thread that spells out the threat of #Covid in very easy to understand terms We need to read it fully, and then ask questions of our government Qs like Why do MPs have air filters in parliament but make no provision for them in our schools & hospitals?

Why sit in parliament if you can’t tell water companies they can’t make profits until they’ve separated the sewage from our water? Why is that so difficult? What’s the collective noun for an utterly useless and incompetent bunch of MPs? A waste of MPs ?

The current crisis is social care is completely avoidable and remediable. Its time the government paid more than lip service to carers. Carers must be paid a living wage, and given adequate training and support so that care becomes a vocation that people aspire to. 1/2

The #CQC ’s annual state of care makes for grim reading, yet nobody who works in health or social care will be surprised by its findings When there is a shortage of pilots, flights get cancelled. Yet the #NHS has no choice except to carry on with absurd levels of staff shortages

We propose individuals working in the NHS and the system itself can take action, as well as recommendations for the government. We do not suggest further commissions, reviews, or research—the evidence is there.
