The "Gwen gets a little jealous" scene in Across is so cute & I thought I'd go over the major points of it b/c it's kinda humorous and a little sad when looked at closely. It actually begins a little before w/ a friendly argument b/w Gwen & Hobie about who caught the Prowler.

While this whole scene is pretty funny, I should note that it is rooted in sadness b/c Gwen knows:. She is Gwen Stacy. But Margo isn't. Margo can fall in love w/ Miles while Gwen cannot.

It's really quite the emotional change here for Gwen. A moment b4 she had forgotten herself for a bit and was joking with Hobie. A moment later she feels bad again about how this will all look to Miles.

They stick around briefly to see the Go Home machine in action. But as soon as it's over, Gwen once again says they can't keep Miguel waiting. Miles lags behind, hoping to see Margo later as Gwen webs his back & begins to pull.

They continue on their way, still walking as slowly as before, showing what a pretext "not wanting to keep Miguel waiting" was for dragging her crush away from a pretty girl. It's cute that Miles leaves the web attached. I think he's feeling pretty good at Gwen's reaction.

The title sequence is a symbolic depiction of the creation and corruption of Middle-Earth.

The climax will be Gwen's canon event. Instead of fearing it, she will turn it into her Leap of Faith, trusting Miles to catch her. Miguel will tackle Miles to stop him. Turns out it's Miles 42. Miles appears at the last sec & catches her, proving her love and trust in him.

When the graffiti was originally conceived, they did not have Spot in mind. They only settled on Spot as a villain when developing Across. But I think they have intentionally connected Spot & Miles with visual iconography. A sort of retro-continuity thing. .
I just saw this picture online about Miles' silhouette graffiti and the Spot and noticed their resemblance for the first time. Do you think this is by chance or has a deeper meaning regarding how their paths have and will cross in Across and Beyond the Spider-Verse?

@GVilleda17 If the story had been written that way, cool. But it was written with their romance in mind. The clocktower sets up the narrative promise that in the emotional climax, M & G defy fate & fall in love. If not, they failed. Makes the scene sad and futile instead of full of hope. /1.

Has anyone noted the truly stark difference between the portals the Society creates and Spot's holes? The Society creates a tunnel b/w universes. But Spot's holes are instantaneous. You can stick your head in & see another universe, then pull back out. The There is no *distance.*

How this wasn't all over ghostflower Twitter is beyond me. This is the first direct confirmation I know of that Gwen really does want to be with Miles, she just didn't think it was possible.

I sincerely believe that Shameik is yanking chains here to increase hype and muddy the water so he can't be accused of giving out spoilers, but I'd still like to address the idea that Gwen "played him" or "played with his heart.".

Live action characters in this movie in more than a Glover times appearance won't work for dramatic purposes.

For the record, yes I think it is absolutely necessary to the plot & themes of the SV movies for Miles & Gwen to earn the romantic ship that Society & Fate has tried to deny them. No ambiguity. No way to interpret otherwise. There *has* to be a first time for everything.

You know what I would love. If this visual metaphor were reversed when they find each other again. This time *Miles* is always towards the light, and *Gwen* is like a moth to *his* flame.
I love how Gwen is always towards the light, and Miles is like a moth to her flame. This meeting was during a sunset, beautiful but still yearning for more day(s) (aka time) hopefully the reunion/reconciliation is during a sunrise to symbolize the new beginning of their bond.

You don't go through 2 movies & 7-8 years just get the same payoff b/w them you had in the 1st movie. If you think they introduced Gwen Stacy's canon event without any intention of doing anything with it, you are fooling yourself. And she has to fall in love for it to happen. .
“I think Miles and Gwen will end up as friends because it’s what Gwen wants and Miles will respect that!”. ….th-that literally happened already…Gwen established her boundary, Miles respects it, and THEY STILL wished something MORE…

It's no contest. E-65b is one of the most beautifully executed concepts in animation history. It took inspiration from one scene in Cinderella & turned it into an entire universe seen and felt through Gwen's eyes, fusing character & scene into one aesthetic masterpiece.

This binary idea that Gwen can either be a fully developed character OR a love interest needs to die. A well written character can be both things. And Gwen is both of those things. As is Miles. What? Gwen is a co-protagonist. That makes Miles' *her* love interest as well.

It's not just a subtle hint. Notice the location of the light source. If anything, the coloring should be flipped. But it's not. Gwen's feelings of loneliness and love are so strong, they are eclipsing the actual light.
Blue when facing away from Miles, pink when facing Miles. Knowing the color theory of Gwens dimension this is really heartbreaking

QRTs ridiculing the are ridiculous, like it's crazy to think it was intentional to have the camera focus on a couple on a date before panning to two teen Spiders starting their swinging date. Yeah, sure. It's such a.biiiig stretch to think they wanted you to connect these images.
Remember, nothing in animation is accidental. Every frame has a purpose. The fact that they showed an interracial couple consiting of a black man and white woman before they pan up to show Miles and Gwen on their swinging "date" is NOT an accident. 💕

@JoshuaM37848390 Love her. Such a wonderful, powerful character w/ realistic flaws. A great depiction of a traumatized teen w/ survivor's guilt. And her chemistry with Miles is just so good. Really rooting for her in Beyond to reconnect w/ Miles & atone. They both deserve a happy ending.

@edgerton_harvey I refuse to believe this b/c I refuse to believe she will never heal from her trauma. She will always regret what she did, but as she grows and seeks help, she will learn to look back w/ compassion for the poor, lost teenager that she once was. Gwen is stronger than her scars.

@borednoz This is why I roll my eyes a bit at people saying it was really terrible of Gwen to do this after rejecting him. Miles left the dang web on. If I was in his shoes, I would have been *thrilled* that the girl I really had feelings for did this, b/c it's *proof* she felt the same.

If it were a small part of the story, I could see them ending friends. But their relationship is tied directly to the themes of fate vs. writing your own story. "There's a first time for everything" is this story's mission statement.

The number of ways in which they are the same really is quite something. They have their differences b/c of their different experiences growing up, but in the important ways, and in many of the tiny ones, their lives are mirrors of each other. .

My guess is interrogate. They want to find out why this guy pretending to be him snuck into his house and got so close to his mom. That has to be terrifying for Miles 42 after already losing his dad. Prob afraid our Miles is a weapon created by the Sinister 6 to kill him.
If 42 Miles and Aaron are vigilantes and not villains, what are they planning to do to our Miles here?

@NadineQueer @tiimatheliima Personally, I think it would be more interesting if he just descends even further into desperation, unable to accept that canon events can be changed, and he ends up becoming Miles' actual arch-nemesis, believing that Gwen has to die to save the Spider-verse.

@stitchedspider I'm a shipper and I don't like the idea. A) Both universes are beautiful. I wouldn't want to lose their uniqueness. B) It would be a catastrophic apocalypse level event as the population of the entire universe doubles while the space and resources stay the same.

We're basically dealing with infant AIs atm, and it's already causing disruption. The speed of their advancement will only accelerate.

I feel like Beyond the Spider-Verse is going to have a decent amount of similarities to Return of the Jedi thematically. I just really hope they nail everything and don't fumble a bit like some aspects of ROTJ.

I've seen terrible takes, but this backhanded Miles slander is horrible. Saying he's a kid while Gwen is "mature" when they are separated by a year? Insulting. They are *peers.* & he is arguably more emotionally mature than Gwen is. Stop diminishing Miles b/c u hate the ship.

Can you imagine? Saying goodbye, believing u will never see each other again? Knowing you could scour the universe entire & never find them b/c. they just aren't there?. They might as well be dead. Yet they're alive. Schrodinger's friend. How do you get over that?. You don't.
Time stopped here because neither of them left each other’s minds since then. They accepted it was the last interaction and yet they replayed the moment over and over again.
