Terrible advice. You are not competing against anyone and to view it that way is ridiculous. If a program likes you and ranks you highly you will match there. You could tell every single person applying that specialty and it would have no effect of you matching at that program.

I attempted my first A-line today and was unable to get the artery. As a medical student, I find that we are too consumed with failing, but my attitude toward each “failure” is another opportunity to improve my skills. Failure and growth are a part of medicine.

Wanted to start a debate on what sport best translates to a career in medicine and explain why. I have to go with tennis. High-pressure environment, lack of subs or timeouts, and having to overcome challenges when things go wrong through brainstorming and adapting.
