Nice to see that @TraceyShorty28 provides the foreword for 'Resolving Distress in Dementia: A Person Centred Approach for Clinical Settings' pub by Jessica Kingsley, Dec 2024 and that @rachelth.

RT @DiverseAlz: Think we have spent enough time on therapeutic lying. Unless anyone has any comments. Some good points @helenfindlay @janis…

#endalzchat...on a Tuesday night. That's gone. Met so many people there too and for the UK dementia folk, it was great for the Tuesdays one either stayed up especially or couldn't sleep. Who remembers Martyn and his parrot?! @diversealz #diversealz

Glad to see that #healthxph is still around and with @endocrine_witch. Checked to see after a long long time. Focus not as generic but it is an important chat. Sorry to hear that co-founder Dr Gia Saison died last year. May her soul rest in peace. #diversealz @diversealz

#Tweetchats Just learning The Health Care Leadership chat #HCLDR ended in 2023. Co founded by @Colin_Hung, it lasted for 11 years. Covered numerous health topics with experts. Assumed still here until checked. @diversealz - how many relevant chats, left? #diversealz news

It's #childrensmentalhealthweek. Dementia can have impact on children & young people. Two suggestions 1) Children's book: Granny needs my help by Deborah L Mills; 2) Info: Supporting Children & Adolescents @dementiauk #diversealz News @diversealz #dembk

Think lucky that the gentleman's tastebuds probably weren't at 100% otherwise he'd realise not the burger he craved. Nice gesture but should we say but... #diversealz
Question 6 What are your thoughts on the hamburger story? i.e man in care home likes a particular hamburger. No appetite. So takeaway boxes bought with brand name(?) so man thinks he's eating his fave hamburger. Does the trick. Going too far? #diversealz

we hear a lot about meeting people living with dementia where they are @diversealz. Their reality. This is where some form of therapeutic lying can come in. There are pros and cons. However, it can also help knowing the person and circumstances where it would be appropriate.

@DiverseAlz Depends on situation and generally we think it applies where person first diagnosed or before they are diagnosed esp. when it comes to Alzheimer's. That disbelief that occurs at times. #diversealz @diversealz
