I hyphenated my name when I got married. My father brought me to and picked me up at school from nursery to med school. I wanted to keep his surname when I became a doctor.

Patient: Doc, pink hair mo, so Leni ka?
Me: Opo.
Patient: Doc, kay B/B/M ka na lang. May offer siya.
Me: Ano pong offer?
Patient: Half na lang ang babayaran sa kuryente at tubig.
Me: Talaga po?
Patient: Opo, nasa FB.

Kaya natin ‘to!
On doctors being late.
Many years ago, I ran a hashtag campaign on my Facebook page (translated from Twitter

) called
#SanaSiDok
.
A relative of one of my patients wrote -

hindi nale-late. Since then I've tried NOT to be late.

A physician I know shared this on Facebook. I blurred the names of products at the bottom. When will they understand that the public knows this but will STILL Google?! This is NOT how we should address this.
Blessed Sunday. 🙏🏻Walang tigil ang pagdating ng mga covid+ sa aming ER. 🏨Lahat desperate. 🥺Pagod kami pero di susuko. 💪🏼Tulungan nyo rin po kami. Magpabakuna na kapag may pagkakataon.👍
I am challenging everyone to post a photo you've taken in a place you've been. The only thing is that you NOT appear in it. Just a pic, no description. Let's flood profiles with landscapes to ease this isolation. Copy this, post a photo & let's travel virtually around the world.
Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship: 'Yung challenge sa RT-PCR test, the cost is about ₱4,000. Some of them are charging as high as ₱8,000. So medyo mahal iyan eh

Got my copy of the two volumes of the very first edition of the Philippine College of Physicians Textbook of Internal Medicine!!
I wrote chapter 1.9. Telemedicine and Primary Care and Chapter 5. Clinical Informatics.
Grateful for the opportunity.
I've always loved graduations. One reason is I find inspiration from the words of the commencement speaker. Moreso, today.
Ramdam po when she said - Thank you for staying true to the spirit of "para sa bayan."

Me to my son: You should watch The Social Dilemma! Your generation is so immersed online.
Son: Why don’t THEY make a movie about the effect on YOUR generation? YOUR generation posts pictures of their children online to get the most likes!

Naku, as chief resident I had to go to the nurses station dahil may drama ...
Fellow: Follow up urine GS/CS without fail.
Resident: The microbes need time to grow.
[Yup, nakasulat sa chart 😬.]
I take exception to “most,” “haughty” and “rich.” I spent 10 months triaging/managing patients in the PGH ER during residency. As a professor, I have worked with residents/ medical students since 2004. Then and now, that sweeping generalization is baseless.
And this is why I’m afraid for PGH. Yung mga flashbacks na walang ventilator. Ambubag lang ang meron at hook to bantay. Patulugin muna si bantay so hook to intern. At pag nakatulog si bantay, nangyari na rin na yung pasyente ang nag-aambubag sa sarili niya 😔.
Cuomo: it's all about ventilators. We can create the beds, we can get the supplies somehow, but we need ventilators - ventilators are in this war what missiles were in WWII, he says. Asks anyone with spare ventilators to contact the state.
We spoke to Dr. Glenn Paraso, director of a hospital in Tondo. When asked what is pulling his staff through this crisis, he got emotional.

Science is not about amassing die-hard fans or acolytes.
While n95 masks can be uncomfortable, seeing him suggest that people can pass out from wearing them for long periods is disappointing to say the least.
I saw that there's been some discussion about this here lately. Please know that doctors usually do not intend to be late. But yes, thanks for the reminder. 5/5

Yup, it happened while waiting in line at the buffet table.
An aunt said, “Ang taba mo.”
I said, “Oo nga eh, Tita.”

The one consistent feedback I got was that I was never late pag teleconsult.
I've since learned to apologize to patients when I am late, which is now rarely.
And that's because I've limited my in-person clinic to 2x a week. I am better able to manage my other activities. 3/
After the

hindi nale-late comment on my FB page, I started apologizing to patients. Not that I didn't want to apologize before, but because I thought it was best to get directly to the consult having lost so much time. But yes, also because hiyang hiya na ako. 4/

😭 I once had a patient as a clinical clerk in med school, who went into uremia for lack of funds for dialysis. In his uremic condition, he became forgetful but he always knew my name. He preferred me to do his blood extraction.

Dayrit on ivermectin: The FDA should make it available to people and have the doctors decide whether they are going to prescribe to patients or not.
