#avgeeks Now I’m all for coming back to work…. But oh my word this is early!! BA 902 to Frankfurt. First operational sector since March 2020….great to be back and at it and just thrilled that @British_Airways is coming back strong with the 380.

@British_Airways The crew on @BA661 have been absolutely exceptional. The worst approach conditions I’ve experienced in 26 years (this time as a passenger) and two discontinued approaches with a diversion to manage then. Truly exceptional both sides of the FD door. #BFD

Discovered just how durable the #380 is last night. Standing wave downstream of the pyrenees and severe turbulence. Got the crew sat down in time but nearly 4000fpm rate of altitude change and the best part of 900 feet displacement. Didn’t even trigger an aircraft event.

@JuliaHB1 Exactly…..PCR false positive rate is 0.8% to 4.3%. That means a theoretical rate of 8000 positives per million tests. We are doing 800k a day or so…..at the moment an average day 6400 could be actually NOT infected with anything other than Fear.

The shudder is caused by the 4 main gear bogies aligning. Unless you are with absolutely zero drift (which is pure luck) there is always a shimmy on landing. If you land with 3-5 degrees of drift it’s really marked

So here is how a 380 protects you over Siberia where the Outside air temp was -75c. Fuel normally in the wing outer tanks is pumped inwards to mix it with marginally warmer fuel to keep it above the “waxing” or freezing point @avgeeks
