I’m sorry but I detest badgers. I spent a night trapped in my car because I got home late (rural setting) and was too frightened to get out of my car. They do so much damage be it by spreading disease or causing damage. Townies just see little cuddly things. They are not.
@jules0455
We have a cleaner once a fortnight to do the bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. I am an amputee and SFC is 73 years old. We just can’t do everything. We can afford it but get 50% back on our tax return because of my disability.
@lspark89
For me, they took over from Jennifer and Clarissa. From Two Fat Ladies to Hairy Bikers. I have 10 of their books and use them most weeks.

My father died at 57 having started as an apprentice at 16. He was no burden to the state. Paid for private school for me and private health, didn’t reach pension age and didn’t live long enough to receive a penny.

My FIL only had female nurses in the 3 years they visited to shower and wash him. What’s the difference? I spent 8 weeks in hospital and was helped by nurses of both sexes. No problems.
@JudyMurray
Very unfair.
@andy_murray
has fought enough battles on the tennis court. He doesn’t need them in his private life as well. Trust long earned to be broken so easily is very sad and disappointing.

She is not the daughter of an Earl or Duke so she is either lady Starmer or Victoria Starmer. She gets the title by virtue of her husband’s knighthood.
I’m going to see
@JamesBlunt
in Bordeaux tonight. Wonder if he’ll give me a shout out? It’s a total surprise. I only found out at lunchtime. Yeh!!!!!!!!!
Haircut today. 1st one since 05/10. Look a bit like Shaggy from Scooby Doo cartoon. Colored as well. Then out for supper at L’imparfait, Bergerac to celebrate. Look it up if you are visiting our area. It is fab. Superb food and atmosphere (and they treat me like a queen).
@lickedspoon
At the Butcher’s in Stockbridge, Hampshire the butchers used to serve you and then you took your ticket to a separate counter where you paid for exactly that purpose/ reason. At Xmas, the queue used to be out the door as they were very popular.
Back home, finally! Nothing broken & no bleeding. Just very stretched, strained and bruised. Strong painkillers and anti inflammatory pills. I had no pain killers whilst there & have just got home in agony. SFC has just put our supper in the oven which he made, all by himself.
Very interesting reading. Having lived in France since 2012 the import / export changes really cause me a headache. Even receiving a birthday present from UK costs a lot of money in customs taxes etc and the cost of general postage has gone up to UK, also.
THREAD: 8 years ago, the UK voted to leave the EU.
Here's a 'Sliding Doors' style look at what we could have won had the vote gone the other way.
It's also a blueprint for the potential benefits of a future Rejoin movement.
Each tweet below covers one aspect of EU membership.
Revolutionised supper last night. Jacket spuds 🥔 with tuna mayo BUT I had 1/2 red onion leftover from previous night’s supper so I finely chopped that in my mini mixer and mixed it in. SFC has declared that is how he wants it every time in future!
Had pretty crap day on twitter due to reporting something that happened when I was 17. Well you can all fudge off because I know I am correct as I was there. Only good spot of the day was
@rattycastle
backing me up& some one asking me for a recipe. Everyone who was horrid - bye
@welshroots
Our theory is that the Post Office wanted to close smaller branches & found a way to do it cheaply. Even with profit. Changes branches figures to show a loss. Make subpostmasters pay them back and close branch. Post office closed and NO REDUNDANCY PAYMENTSneed to be paid. Win/win
@higgledygarden
Letter from France to Northern Ireland- 14 days. Package China to France - 7 days. Cost of postage the same. Something is rotten in the post office!
Frustrated. It’s just taken 14 days to deliver a letter from here in France to Northern Ireland! We sent it tracked and signature on delivery. We kept checking and the delay was UK end, not France. Really important letter & late delivery caused problems for me. Thanks
@RoyalMail
@THERussellGrant
Thank you. Pizza night here (gluten free for me, human for SFC). Easy cook night but we did leave home at 06:20 for a 5 hour round trip to Bordeaux to see my oncologist so we are a bit tired. Been referred to local Dr here in Bergerac now so it’s a very positive day.
@abbyaug
@rattycastle
No. Dad was in our home. Often they arrived before I was up and had left door open for them and they got Dad up, showered him and dressed him no problems. He lived in a separate part of the house.
Having seen
@JamesBlunt
in concert Tuesday night in Bordeaux I’ve just read « How to be a complete and utter Blunt ». Loved it. SFC not so much as I kept on reading bits out to him and he was reading something else. Hahahaha.
Just want to announce I didn’t get an Easter egg. I got a set of Ninja knives. Apparently, I complained too much about my old blunt ones. Thanks. It’ll be getting new carburetors for my birthday going on recent form. Équipe wheels, exhaust, Austin Allegro…. Need I say more?
Just bought 2 new Jack Russell pups to be known as Daisy (because she looks like a cow) and Bramble (SFC’s choice). Born 13/03 we get beginning of July. Yeh. They speak Polish HELP!
@englishmaninBX
No. You are not alone. We call our cleaner ‘no show’ as she usually contacts with some trouble which means she can’t arrive on specified times but at least the house is clean.
Didn’t take long. Bumble has already fallen in the swimming pool! The dog next door barked at them and she ran away looking over her shoulder and went spat!
It’s that time of year and it’s pouring with rain and I’ve just seen SFC heading in the direction off the fosse septic with all his drain clearing equipment. Loos draining slowly again and gurgling sounds from all around the house.

All off the car registration numbers appear on DVLA website so they are not government or royal protection cars. According to my husband who went down a rabbit hole investigating the matter last night.
Time difference is a real pain. Need to phone insurance company but I’ve been up since 06:30 my time and it’s still another hour until insurance brokers open in Enniskillen. Bored now.
SFC has gone shopping & no phone & I needed to add to list so I’ve 📞 shop & asked her & look out 4 man buying bacon, muesli, fevertree tonic & ask him to add suet to basket. If she gets wrong man there could b trouble either here if he doesn’t get it or another house. update! 😆
In my favorite place…… a&e Bergerac. Following my 4 falls on Saturday, I was still showing no signs of getting better & indeed, neck mvt worse, headache still there, feeling dizzy etc so come to get checked out.
Bramble is out on her big adventure. Daisy got most of the way home outside then lay down under the shade of a rose bush and had to be carried the rest of the way. It’s about 1km and she is very small. Hoping they sleep well this afternoon.
Daisy found a weekends in the fence and headed into next door’s garden. Soon came back when big dog barked at her so that’s SFC’s job for the day! Slept well in the crate well last night and bouncing about this morning.
I’m going to be brave and, for the 1st time in 3 nights, I’m going to try and sleep in my own bed. SFC’s coughs n sneezes seem to have abated a bit so I have heated the cattle prod on the wood burner so if he is too loud I can give him a fiery prod when he annoys me.
Just had a juvenile owl fly into the French windows. Looked a bit dazed and just sat there for a while. Eventually I went to check it and it stared at me and low level ‘flew’ across the terrace under the umbrella. It’s gone now. Think mum gave it its wings before it was ready!
Email, followed by phone call from Cheshire police. My handbag which went missing in Chester in October has been found and everything seems to be intact. Hopefully I’ll be reunited soon!
@BrydonN2
I do a fab (freshly cooked) breakfast at my B n B here in Monbazillac. Black pudding with apples and calvados a speciality. You can fly into Bergerac and we are 7 mins from airport. Not en suite but sole use bathroom and you can use my car.
@SharonMoncur
Yesterday was mother’s revenge. The tail of Kathleen taking issue with me buying the new pups out of her dosh I inherited ! Garden furniture all over the place and remains of apple tree all over the garden giving SFC extra clearing up to do!
Cauliflower cheese for supper last night, cottage pie tonight. Feels a bit like winter. Left over cauliflower cheese for lunch. Waiting for nurse visit. Due 11am.
All the 2m high fencing is up. Now just 1.5 m stuff to go in. If JRT ‘s can jump that high I’ll enter them in the Olympics even I can’t see over it! They will compete for Poland, their country of birth.
@SharonMoncur
Out for tapas in the village. They have reopened for the season with a new menu. Not Semillion, Maison Vari across the road. Semillion hasn’t changed their menu since they opened so we only go there now if we have visitors with children as they are more child friendly.
So, this morning, I’ve washed and dried our bedding before it goes to get washed, dried and ironed and tidied the kitchen before the cleaner arrives. Anyone else this mad?
@LaineEleslaine
Tours did make it down to Bergerac and collected the Edinburgh passengers but very late. We were watching all the drama from flight radar and the binoculars from the kitchen window as they fly right past either take off or landing depending on the wind direction!
@2dogsmovetofra1
He has found another socket he can take the feed off. Just needs to empty, move and refill the wine cabinet. Think I can help with that! 🤭
@cm_bagot
I’m having honey chook and rice tonight and, maybe, a hot chocolate later. I only ever have 2 mini Toblerone a day. One for breakfast and one for lunch. Can’t eat much more than that my hernia just isn’t up to food!
Chicken in morel sauce tonight. Left over sauce from Sunday so easy night for me. Yeh! Neck and bum still painful after falls 4 weeks ago. Oh well. I’m still alive.
Bought an over bed handle to help with sitting up to go to loo or get up as it was getting very difficult so that is good. I was at Bergerac Medical yesterday and was looking through their brochure. Another thing to make life easier.
Today, it’s Peregeuex hospital re my toe.
SFC went shopping. Tried to sneak into house. Me: “you were quick, what went wrong?” Him “ nothing, just forgot means of payment”. Doh! You forgot your phone, also, but I couldn’t phone you to tell you!
SFC has gone back to bed now. I’ve got tennis on and hope I can drift off for a bit. Hospital this afternoon so can sleep in the car (I’m not driving).
SFC back from shopping. Loo rolls for both our bathrooms. I notice he bought “le comfort” for me BUT “Le Premium” for himself. So much for an equal marriage! Mind you, he put them in his trolley Saturday but not on the conveyor belt so we had a bit of a loo roll crisis yesterday
