Many reasons to love

over the years. But an abiding image is the players hugging each other after another astonishing feat of memory.
So delighted that the penultimate night of
@bbcproms
should feature
@theoae
. They were mad enough to give me my first ‘big’ job over 30 years ago. Life comes full circle.
With
@MaestroFilm_
up for a few awards tonight I thought it time to share my programme from THAT concert in Ely Cathedral. Sadly not asked to re-create my 13 year old self for the film.
A picture doesn’t even begin to say how astonishing ‘The Trojans’ was tonight
@bbcproms
. Thank you
@dinispsousa
@mco_london
and a sensational cast
I cannot quite believe that the amazing Isabelle Demers just played a brilliant 90 minute recital without a note of music in front of her!
@bbcproms
Welcoming the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra to the Proms for the first time in their 100 year history. And so thrilled to see my dear friend Vladimir Jurowski again.
@bbcproms
Superb finale to
#bbcproms
tonight. Director
@davidpickard23
has done a great job over the past 9 years, steering it through Covid, Brexit and other unexpected hurdles spreading the joy of music to millions more and ensuring our cherished festival emerged as strong as ever.
So sad to hear the news about Sir Andrew Davis. Such a lovely man - his enthusiasm for music knew no bounds. Lucky enough to work with him
@theoae
@glyndebourne
@bbcproms
All performances to cherish.
Great to hear a stirring speech by
@RhonddaBryant
@UK_Music
summer party. He explained how seeing Peter Grimes changed his life. It changed mine too.
A personal dream fulfilled tonight. The first ever performance
@bbcproms
of Schumann’s ‘Das Paradies und Die Peri’. Brilliantly performed by
@SirSimonRattle
@londonsymphony
@LSChorus
and an amazing line up of soloists
Thrilling to see a full house
@bbcproms
tonight for a knotty evening of Brahms, Mahler and Schoenberg. Wonderfully played by
@BBCSSO
and Ryan Wigglesworth with the incandescent
@AliceCoote
Jonathan Scott
@bbcproms
explaining that, prior to the restoration of the organ
@RoyalAlbertHall
he had to have a man sitting next to him with a fire extinguisher. He made it sound magnificent today.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of
@schottmusic
composer Alexander Goehr at the age of 92.
Sandy (to all who knew him) passed away on August 26, 2024 at home in Cambridgeshire.
The future of classical music is bright when you have such stellar young talents as
@PatKopViolin
and Tarmo Peltokoski on the scene. They even did 2 encores together. Terrific night
@bbcproms
@BBCSO
Those 15 Proms include music by Holst, Bruckner, Verdi, Beethoven, Lara Poe, Mahler, Clara Schumann, Ben Nobuto, Britten….. Classical music very much alive.

just described the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers as ‘the greatest choir on the face of the earth’. Hard to disagree after their amazing performance
@bbcproms
this afternoon.
The phenomenal
@grosvenorpiano
delivers a blistering performance of the Busoni Piano Concerto. Huge thanks to Ed Gardner and
@LPOrchestra
for bringing it to
@bbcproms
A landmark event this evening at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall with a recreation of the first-ever Aldeburgh Festival concert and the premiere of

and
@BrittenSinfonia1
