I am going g to fill a 40yr ambition by going to every Cardiff game home and away for the first time. Missed out by 2 games due to work last yr but have mapped it out and this yr it’s game on!
Am famous now as have been showcased by the Royal Academy of Engineering in their national magazine for my positive impact on pupil engagement during lockdown
@CardiffWestCHS
teaching STEM activities remotely. 😀
Many thanks to
@enconconstruct
and Careers Wales
@Beacardiff2
for hosting our Year 10 Engineering class

Amazing - 16 pupils from year 7 and 8
@CardiffWestCHS
spent over an hour and a half of their own time after school today at our STEM club. Based on 'engineering during the pandemic', they all made a wind tunnel which tested the suitability of a range of materials for face masks.
High flying year 9 students
@CardiffWestCHS
extending their learning by using the metal lathe safely and enthusiastically for the first time to drill an 8mm diameter hole into a hexagonal block with accuracy of 1/10 of a mm.
After 6 hours of designing and building
@CardiffWestCHS
our entry to the Royal Engineering Society Great Marble Run challenge was a huge success. The enterprise, resilience and team work of pupils from my 8T form class was a joy to watch. We have won a programmable robot at least
An amazing 11 pupils attend the inaugural Mr Melvin's
@CardiffWestCHS
STEM club from their homes after school today. Pupils loved making and playing tunes on a pencil piano using a synthesiser, and then created an LED colour spectrum generator using the primary colours.
Great day out
@MillwallFC
yesterday in the sun with the company of the Anderson’s and the Damian’s. Spitfire larger was a new one on me but ok.
@CardiffCityFC
Amazing outcomes from yr 9 Product Design pupils
@CardiffWestCHS
who had the design brief to make a simple wooden puzzle for a 3yr old child. Project included researching hardwood, softwood, man made boards and sustainability. Da Iawn!
Yr 10 engineering and construction pupils
@CardiffWestCHS
had a fantastic morning building mechanical excavators thanks to
@balfourbeatty
@tfwrail
which also included an insight into career paths offered by both.
Overwhelmed by the passion shown by yr 11 engineering students
@CardiffWestCHS

Yr 8 pupils in collaborate in teams of 4
@CardiffWestCHS
to design, build and test their own marble runs based around triangulation and structures. Great when it then all comes together! 🥳🥳
Can’t believe my year 9 engineering class have never heard of the ‘Elves and the show maker’! I told them they reminded me of the elves as they were all tapping pin hammers making hinges. Ended up telling the story. Fantastic lesson 😀
An exciting new STEM club
@CardiffWestCHS

Perhaps its another event foe ‘elite fans’ 😡 36 yrs of season tickets plus 80% attendance to away games didn’t qualify me apparently!

Bristol used to be cheap - silver parking and drop off fees are frightening- we saved money driving and flying from Liverpool in the summer. Also the journey to Bristol is a nightmare. Cardiff needs a low cost airline however, also niche flight like the iceland connection.
@secondtierpod
Personally love it. Eapecially if u stay at the Holiday Inn in the corner. This was my room view Saturday. Also a nice spoons by the river for prees 🤣
