It must be primarily to reduce light pollution. Norway has an abundance of electricity due to excess hydropower. That said, information processing for this application requires a negligible amount of energy compared to the lights themselves. Probably less than 1%.

The pillows are very cool, the other 3 don’t move me. But a lot of the old art we can still see doesn’t move us either, and an even greater amount of old art that didn’t move people is not on display anymore for that reason.
