This has like the reverse effect of putting actors with a chronic tiktok face in period costumes . like that is not a man in a t shirt holding a dog . that is a shepherd who was present when christ was born in a stable
he’s so right for this. a lot of the language used in the show is so hard to pull off without theater experience and cadence (or else you’d get dull/forced line deliveries). u need the kind of freak like assad who can walk down a street causally & start monologuing hamlet

Rolin explains that theater actors are particularly attractive to him for the roles of Gabrielle, Marius and Akasha. He also talks about the expensive audition process and three scenes he wrote for Joseph Potter (Nicki).
iwtv is not a show where u debate who is more evil or good than the other. it is about choosing your favorite feral cat that you want to adopt from the pet shop at your own risk
he’s like if princess diana was also regina george and kind of sharpay evans all meshed into the brain of hannibal lecter and granted the power of immortality
during my first time watching I was loike whys louis assistant way too good looking for a 5 second role 😭 girl come back I wanna hear u keep talking abt an electronic mailbox
obsessed that Armand’s like this bottle of ancient powerful energy and oftentimes he just resorts to being an calm statuesque figure or a wounded victim who doesn’t take action but then he explodes and he’s the scariest most powerful creature in the room it’s so satisfying to ME
Can’t believe armand was pretending to be a mortal here he licherally looks like a renaissance painting photoshopped next to daniel and louis 😭 that is a face that has never seen an electric outlet
he was not playing around w the facial expressions like! u can see the internally held panic the mask falling off whew assad zaman the actor that u are
imagine ur millionaire boss doing an impression of u in front of a famous journalist for no clear reason and acted up like this... i woulda risked my life to start airing his dirty business to the talamasca too
he’s lichrally a walking fossil in a human costume ik he was looking at daniel thinking kids have it so easy these days you see in my day and age we had to fight dinosaurs on the way to the school
also to give y'all an idea of how old and powerful armand is, armand was older in 1794 when he met lestat in paris than either lestat or louis are by 2022
Wish we could see assad’s Very Extra armand audition tape where he asked his friend to film him on an empty theater stage reciting santiago’s monologue and then got kicked out by security bc they weren’t allowed to be there
am I as boring as the blather committed onto the ferric tapes of your fascinating boy is such a hilarious line bc louis is out there calling armand boring as fuck like pillow and he responds like a knight summoned to battle in the middle ages
this is one of my fav scenes he was speedrunning like 40 facial expressions here… mr armand de statue no longer able to keep still, everything scrambling internally is now bubbling out, he is transforming into a gremlin etc etc
assad zaman first thought he would play an assistant character with 5 minutes of screen time and wouldn’t have auditioned for a bigger role bc it was too daunting well ! thank god he was lied to
Ik it’s their job but I’m v obsessed when actors irl and their character form a perfectly contrasting duality like woah that’s not u that’s ur evil twin who was hiding in the basement for 20 years
his rashid face card is so insanely angelic like that’s the face u meet at the gates of heaven the kind of face that looks like it was trapped in a biblical painting
the weird world of
#BARRYHBO
: a tribute to the last season of my favorite dark comedy
— bill hader as barry berkman, sarah goldberg as sally reed, anthony carrigan as noho hank, henry wrinkler as gene, stephen root as fuches
one of the funniest armand moments was when he called the sun a “mediocre star” compared to his 500 years of vampiric experience in front of daniel he was rlly trying to beat the boring allegations from the get go
it’s mostly just focused on his face and the subtleties in his expressions give u the feel of watching multiple flashbacks and waves of his conflicting emotions it’s amazing how his delivery of the script elevates it beyond just being a narration of past events
