The American Studies dept at UEA has long been a champion of interdisciplinary, original research + supporting students in finding their voice in academia (and beyond). I owe so much to this team, and they deserve so much better than such devastating news

American Studies at UEA is about to be decimated. We’ve already lost 2 faculty to voluntary severance. And we are now going to lose another 4 faculty. From 16, we are losing 6 people. That’s 37.5% of our staff being ‘cut’.

Today a certain funding body started advertising for PhD scholarship applicants.
I feel the need to stress, particularly now, that if you don't get funding, your PhD is still worthwhile, and just as valid as the projects that get funding.
