May be time to reassess those 🔥 narratives -
@PhilMurphyNJ
now has:
- Most votes for Governor since Florio in '89
- The second highest vote total in state history for a Governor in his reelection (behind Kean '85)
- The first to be elected and reelected with 50%+ since Byrne
I strongly condemn the flippant language the Governor has used in press conferences and on these signs.
It is disrespectful to the citizens of NJ who have – and will continue to – make hard sacrifices to stop the spread of the coronavirus & save lives.
No Governor in this history of New Jersey, and possibly American history, has ever held a town hall in an Islamic Center or mosque until
@GovMurphy
’s town hall at ICPC in Paterson tonight.
It’s gratifying to see
@mikeduncan
finally break through in popular culture and get the recognition he deserves.
For the uninitiated: Revolutions is the best history podcast out there, and Duncan is an engaging and fun host. Can’t wait to read Hero of Two Worlds.
Bravo,
@GovMurphy
!
I can't believe a New Yorker is saying this, but let's follow New Jersey's lead — and get this done for our tenants here in our state.
This morning,
@GovMurphy
led our congressional delegation on a tour of the current Hudson River tunnel, highlighting the urgent need for the Gateway Project.
Would like to remind everyone that
@TheDerekRoseman
wrote three budget addresses and a State of the State this year, in addition to remarks 3-6x per week for our Covid pressers. His 2020 season is rivaling John Olerud in 1998.
I'm honored to serve
@GovMurphy
in a new role beginning today, and thrilled to continue to work with our entire A+ Governor's Office Comms team!
@GunaRockYa
@AlyanaAlfaro
"From day one, we've made a commitment to be guided by the facts and take any action necessary to protect the health and safety of New Jersey's 9 million residents.”
@GovMurphy
Willful obfuscation from Trump’s lap dog here.
Last spring during a devastating wave of infections & deaths,
@GovChristie
flaunted medical guidance & callously said “there will be deaths.”
Anyone still being fooled by this professional liar only has themselves to blame.
Despite controversy surrounding Gov. Cuomo,
@GovChristie
echoes lack of scrutiny over governors' actions across the the country, adding: "There are a lot of governors across the country... are still being seen by their constituents doing a good job."
To be clear: this tweet was outrageous, completely inappropriate and wholly unfair to
@dracioppi
and, by extension, the entire press corps. This kind of anti-press rhetoric from a state agency account is totally unacceptable.
Cases are now down 57% over 14 days, and hospitalizations are down 39%.
The progress New Jersey has made is undeniable, and we continue to be a leader in the nation in vaccinations and in declining Covid cases/hospitalizations.
Last year, I had the honor of staffing
@GovMurphy
as he gave an award to Justice Ginsburg at the Supreme Court.
Afterward, Justice Ginsburg took an extra 30min to give all of us a history lesson of the Supreme Court, telling stories about the portraits around the room.
On the anniversary of the Parkland shooting, we received this email from our daughter’s daycare about a planned lockdown drill. She’s 18 months old.
When one year olds are practicing how to protect themselves during a mass shooting, something is broken.

New Jersey has lost a titan. Sheila was a proud fighter and fiercely independent, but what I’ll remember the most is he kindness and warmth to me and my family. She broke barriers and left an indelible mark on our state. May her memory be a blessing to all of us mourning her.
Tammy and I, and our children, are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and partner in government,
@LtGovOliver
.
We ask that you all keep the Oliver family and all those who loved her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
It seems beneath a former Governor to take cheap potshots while thousands of first responders, DOT/NJT crews & municipal workers are out there busting their ass to get the state moving again despite incredibly difficult conditions, but what do I know.
I’ve been working for
@GovMurphy
for three and a half years, and this is, by far, the highest performing tweet of any related account we’ve had.
That includes the
@BarackObama
tweet after election day.
It's hard to imagine writing a more offensive or tone-deaf column than this,
@MikeKellyColumn
.
Prioritizing diversity does not mean sacrificing competence. Writing a full column implying as much tells us a whole lot about you and your mindset.
BREAKING: Republican members of the Assembly intending to defy the vax or test mandate at the Statehouse and brush past troopers have been foiled...by a locked door.

speaks with students at EMIS (Eastern Mediterranean International School), an organization dedicated to peace and sustainability in the Middle East. Student body is 20% Israeli, 20% Palestinian, and 60% international (including one from Wayne, NJ!).
Some poor soul at an email address very similar to mine has been receiving my emails for years (like, a decade plus). Up until today, he’s been good humored about it.
Today, he lost his shit and went nuclear on all copied on the email chain.
Can’t blame him. Sorry, my man!
@NJGov
This is the
@PhilMurphyNJ
administration keeping it classy. If Trump did this it would be an impeachable offense. But he’s a progressive, so this gets yucks.

@RaviBhalla

is peddling a reverse-Robin Hood policy that will redistribute resources to wealthy communities at the expense of districts like ours. This “us vs. them” approach is simply bad policy.
I strongly urge residents to vote for Governor

Here’s what NJT investment looked like in the
@GovChristie
years:
2011: 276.2 million
12: 285
13: 68.2 (!)
14: 35.1 (!!)
15: 40.3 (!!!)
16: 33.2 (!!!!)
17: 90.9 (!!!!!)
18: 140.9
Under
@GovMurphy
:
19: 307.5 (2nd largest in state history)
20: 457.5 (largest in state history)
NJ unemployment rate falls below 7% for first time since before
#COVID19
recession, per new data from NJ labor dept.
Jobless rate peak at 16.6% in April 2020, has been above 7% for over a year. W/ most restrictions lifted NJ's gained back 76% of jobs lost, or 548,500 positions.
Incomprehensible policy decision ignoring the science by the same administration which has made 15 months of decisions that have led NJ to have the most per capita deaths from COVID-19 in the nation. 7.7% unemployment. Most deaths from COVID. Now, masks stay on?
#ignorethescience
It's true, elections do have consequences: Governor Murphy has increased investments in education, transportation, and the pension system to historic amounts, three areas you underfunded to the point of crisis.
There's no better reminder of the failed ways of the past than this.
My last budget for NJ was $34.7b. Today’s proposal is $44.8b. 7.2% average spending increase per year. 29.1% over four years. And we borrowed $4.5b to support operating expenses and those bonds are not callable. Will cost taxpayers billions more. Elections do have consequences.
New Jersey has posted about *1/3 of a million* doses in less than a week since announcing our millionth dose on Monday.
We’ve got a long way to go, but there’s no doubt we’re making incredible progress.
I don’t understand - did you not dig in the first time? Does this happen a lot? Are there other editorials that you didn’t “dig in on” that you’ll need to retract?
Very strange to publish two diametrically opposed editorials just five months apart. You can imagine my confusion!
You're welcome, Dan, but we dug deeper now that she's running for U.S. Senate, and her claims dissolved. It's not safer to give birth in Jersey now, as she claims, and the racial gap has not closed.
It's important to remember that Democrats were blamed throughout this campaign for not focusing enough on the issues Republicans were inventing.
That is what message discipline looks like in real time - howls from the sidelines for not engaging with Republicans on their terms.
My take:
We focused on our issues, which polling also told us voters cared deeply about (affordability, economy, guns, choice), and refused to let Rs define the conversation.
Rs focused on issues they invented and hoped voters were fooled.
It's really as simple as that.
And those numbers don’t reflect
@GovMurphy
undoing diversions from clean energy and capital funds.
So let’s please not let
@GovChristie
sanitize the severe damage he did re: NJT.
One more: he also cancelled the ARC tunnel, possibly the most damaging decision of his tenure.
is your child texting about new jersey?
TBH: taking bagels home
DTF: disco those fries
WTH: want taylor ham?
WPR: want pork roll?
BDE: big diner energy
OMG: oh my gabagool
SMH: springsteen my hero
DTS: down the shore
FTW: for the wawa
JH: jug handle
IDC: i dig central (jersey)
Great day today w/ resumption of outdoor dining, incl grand opening of Leo’s Grandevous’ expanded outdoor cafe. Leo’s utilizes our business recovery program to expand tables onto the adjacent sidewalk. 50+ businesses have been approved for parklets, sidewalk cafe expansion + more
This is a disgrace.
@ActualAlexZ
and I disagreed a lot, but he is one of the most fearless questioners in our state. Seems like we need more of that, not less. Shameful,
@News12NJ
The “suburban housewife” will be voting for me. They want safety & are thrilled that I ended the long running program where low income housing would invade their neighborhood. Biden would reinstall it, in a bigger form, with Corey Booker in charge!

as Interim Senator today. If anyone can add value to our state in 2+ short months in Washington, it’s George.
