omg.... there was literally a part of lagos called the brazilian quarter & a number of streets are still named after cuban and brazilian returnees 🙈
Love history classes so apparently by the end of the 19th century, 1 in 7. Lagosians (from Lagos Nigeria) were formerly enslaved peoples who returned to West Africa from Brazil and Cuba.......such a stark reminder that slavery also reshaped Africa as well as the diaspora
