Oh, the memories. Mayor Adams and his DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez were both on hand for the 2017 launch of the Bus Turnaround Coalition. Fast forward to 2025, they've had three years in City Hall and bus speeds haven't budged.

this really gets to the folly of fiscal responsibility — adams made big policy commitments on the campaign trail, but as mayor instituted a hiring freeze that made achieving them impossible mayor candidates who preach austerity should be held to account for its implications
@nycibo The City Council has urged Adams to meet the benchmarks required by the "streets plan," but failed to allocate funding for it to do so. DOT's budget is growing, in part due to inflation, but its staffing for units crucial to building more bus lanes has flatlined or even dropped.
