One of my Brothers who is fully vaccinated went into ER yesterday. CoVid test positive. He’s now intubated in ICU in one of Calgary’s Hospitals. He’s 55, has some comorbidities.This is a terrible disease and we are devastated. Please, get vaccinated, and follow the guidelines.

Today I learned on the news that AHS will be cutting 500 full time RN positions. I went through this in the 1990’s with Ralph Klein. Beds were closed. Entire wings of Hospitals were closed. We never recovered. I did not vote for UCP. When will it 1

3. After March 2020 it will be layoffs. My heart goes out to the New RN graduates who can’t find a position, and the couples who consist of a Teacher and an RN. I’m feeling completely defeated by all of this.

Big thank you to the amazing Healthcare workers in ICU at Peter Lougheed. My brother has been a patient there for 11 days with a breakthrough Covid infection. He was extubated this morning and we were able to FaceTime with him this afternoon. Has a journey ahead, but he’s alive!

2. Be enough? We are struggling to maintain what we have now in terms of Health Services.
They say that they will manage the layoffs “mainly by attrition” until March 2020. So up until March they will not post the positions that are left vacant when someone retires, quits etc.

My Aunt died at age 79 from Ovarian cancer. Drs ignored her symptoms, told her her ovaries would be shrivelled up at her age. She was 76 when diagnosed. By the time she was investigated she was stage 4. Intervention sooner might have saved her.
