@StevearenoBR Can I identify the actual telescopes used for this astrometry? With the brightness now down to ~23.5 mag. it would be interesting to know who's still able to contribute. (Just listened to a very detailled talk by an ESA Planetary Defense man, so I'm eager for hard numbers. :-)

@WIONews @susanmtehrani Interesting that you don't mention that Mumbai is smack in the risk corridor (which has been known for weeks): - and India is actually the only spacefaring nation in it. Talk to someone at ISRO about the implications!
@b612foundation has taken the orbit and uncertainty of asteroid 2024YR4, sampled 10K trajectories from the current uncertainty, and propagated them forward. 2.3% of those hit the Earth on Dec.22, 2032. Here is where they hit.

@Astro_Jonny Given the risk corridor cutting only through the Global South with countries w/o space programs of their own (except India; no small bodies experience, though) do you really think NASA - if it still exists - and ESA and, gasp, Roskosmos would mount a billion dollar mission?

@YR4tracker @gblasco78 @AstroKirsten @mEitHan With no new astrometry - and no old one found - why would p(impact) change? Trying to find out what it would take to at least initiate development of a deflector s/c. Lots of factors in play I reckon ...

@YR4tracker @gblasco78 @AstroKirsten @mEitHan The shrinking of the uncertainty has slowed down so much that clarity about the outcome is unlikely to come before the asteroid is lost for good in spring -> I guess it'll remain a solid Torino 3 then, a maximally confusing situation for the following 3 years of invisibility.

@scute1133 @DJSnM Wonder whether they'll run with the hypothetical case at PDC'25 or replace it with real-life YR4 ... the conference comes at a time when presumably even Webb will just have lost sight of it.
