🚨 What if asteroid YR4 hits Bogotá, Colombia? Let's explore two possible scenarios—a mid-air explosion (airburst) vs. direct ground impact. 🧵👇 #AsteroidImpact Scenario 1: Airburst Over Bogotá ☄️🔥 If YR4 is 40-60m wide, it would explode in the atmosphere (10-30 km high) like the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor. Energy: ~10-20 megatons of TNT (Tunguska event scale). No crater, but the shockwave would destroy much of Bogotá. 📍 Effects: Within 10 km → Skyscrapers collapse, windows shatter, & massive fires ignite. Casualties: 1-3M deaths from the blast, debris, & firestorm. 50+ km away → Windows break, explosion heard for hundreds of km. 💡 Example: The 1908 Tunguska event flattened 2,000 km² of forest. Imagine that over a major city. Scenario 2: Direct Ground Impact 💥🌍 If YR4 is 70-90m wide, it survives the atmosphere & slams into downtown Bogotá. Energy: 50+ megatons of TNT (like the Tsar Bomba nuclear bomb). A massive 1.5-2 km wide crater forms in the heart of the city. 📍 Effects: Ground Zero (5 km) → 100% destruction. City center vaporized. 10 km radius → Buildings collapse, firestorm engulfs Bogotá. Casualties: 3-5M+ deaths. Earthquake (~M6-7) triggers landslides in the Andes. Global Effects → Dust in the atmosphere could cool Earth for months. 💡 Example: The Chicxulub asteroid (that wiped out the dinosaurs) was much bigger, but this would be the deadliest impact in human history. 🔥 TL;DR: Bogotá's fate depends on YR4's size. Small (~40m) → Airburst, shockwave flattens city. 1-3M deaths. Large (~90m) → Crater impact, near-total destruction. 3-5M+ deaths. NASA continues to track YR4’s trajectory. For now, we watch & wait. 🔭🌍 #Space #YR4 #Bogotá

@shitpost_2049 If you haven't taken down an AT-AT Walker with a T-47 Airspeeder on N64... you haven't lived.

YR4 is a special meme that will be with us until at least 2028. It has the potential to be all anyone talks about if we launch a deflection mission. This is generational and we're here for it. The other YR4 coin devs didn't appreciate this and rugged. Long term greedy is the rational play. Don't trust us though - just watch that our dev wallet follows our vesting schedule 🖖

RT @astroEdLu: Here are possible orbits of YR4 as they approach Earth on Dec 22, 2032. You can see that the big clump of orbits miss Earth…
