Before I consume takes from people who disagree, I wanna say I loved the True Detective: Night Country finale. I cried more than once & enjoyed a real sense of female righteousness long missing from this genre. Reis and Foster were luminous. The story felt important.

Don’t you just love it when TV is as riveting as True Detective?! Ep 1 of s4 was fantastic. There’s never enough Jodie Foster on our screens but at least with this and Nyad we’re getting our fix!

@stayawaysway No more than any other crime drama, for example TD s1 where multiple people are murdered & it’s covered up by biker gangs or how neither s2 or s3 adequately deal with the Yellow King. I think all TV mysteries have flaws, but this one treated women like the human beings they are

If every film at #LFF2022 is as accomplished as One Fine Morning, I may never leave the cinema! Anchored by a tender portrayal of a family dealing with the frailties of age, Lea Seydoux shines. Hansen-Løve expertly absorbs us into this modern drama. Loved it 🥰

The Banshees of Inisherin showcases McDonagh’s humour & stunning vistas yet I was most entranced by the 2022 relevance of a dying friendship on an Irish island in 1923. Loneliness, toxic masculinity, mental health, religion, poverty, war all covered by 4 awesome actors #LFF

These films are amazing & nothing like each other, bar the doubling. The film world is richer for having them both. One is based on a Dostoyevsky novella & the other is about Brutalism & gynophobia. The Double is virtually all set at night, Enemy is a sunshine noir.
