@perigean What problem are you trying to solve? That children should go to school, or are indeed actually pseudo-people? Or that people should be coerced and we need to figure out how and when and why? Or? Does this relate to your business? And how are memes involved?

But, that illusory stuff, and all the stuff you can actually do with it, is actually doing real stuff. Like, buying (let alone creating) a self-driving electric car and posting about it for whatever reason related to one’s wants and desires is very real—it may cause others to get cars, it may reduce carbon in the atmosphere from fossil fuels, and it may prevents deaths from human biological limitations related to moving contraptions at that speed. That’s just one aspect of one specific random thing that came to mind, which relies on a breadth of other things built up over time all relating to the self you created and started building when you were a baby. It’s not all you are, sure, but even and perhaps especially seemingly trivial internal emotional stuff related to the self, like being guilty, is mind bogglingly complex, and requires profoundly mysterious but universally significant creativity. The concept of the self—it’s not perfect, and is an ongoing process, sure, but it’s not just made up. Though, meditation can make it easier to grow in a joyful way if you get stuck, for sure.
Are you simply yourself, the entire universe, or the very force that brings it all into existence? Join leading AI researcher, Joscha Bach @Plinz as he delves into the origins of consciousness and self-awareness – from infancy to adulthood – and what this reveals about the possibility of artificial intelligence achieving consciousness in the future. @perigean Have you read any of @Ray_S_Percival ‘s book I mentioned on the subject of memes? Even just the first section, if taken seriously, is pretty critical to your use of memes in the Medium piece.

@perigean I guess it was “so and so doesn’t understand,” but the point remains. It seems more productive to just say the thing that’s contradictory, rather than make a comment about what’s in someone else’s mind.

Ah, yeah maybe it does suck, because it’s a negative depiction of technology. Given a safe non-coercive environment, a technology like that maybe could be really fun and useful—like even especially for vulnerable people, like as a form of subconscious therapy. I dunno. Or just to have fun fantasies, like what about an escape room. People would pay to use its rather than get paid to self-coerce. The only reason the company aspect makes sense is because currently people tribally distrust companies and profit, so the nefarious conspiracy is believable. Whatever the explanation for Lumon’s profitability is, it better be good! If it’s some bullshit about being in limbo… Anyway, I’m gonna keep watching and enjoying it, lol.

Cool, so you understand the effect (good and bad) of fighting deflation in this way short and long term, right? Like, what’s your goal here? Just protect BOJ from any kind of criticism? It’s just weird. I feel like you’re not actually interested in economics at all. BOJ policy is like a monetary Japanese garden, strict, harsh and controlled, a beautiful balancing act, if an uncompromising system. But you’re like—it’s not worth comparing to other gardens. lol. Like, why even be on X? What’s your goal here dude? No economic effect. lol. Lmao even. Look, even the AI has more fun than you:

@DragoFloresIII @cjenscook @Finance_Nerd_ Zero economic consequences? 🤣 You don’t need a source to say that heavy handed economic moves, like he’s suggesting, will have economic consequences.

@BrianHatano What’s a unit of attention? For genes it’s the nucleotide. I don’t think currency, or any empirical measure, and creativity (a constant process we are referring to here with one aspect we hardly understand called“attention”) can be compared at all.

@webdevMason Just go back a couple hundred years or so and given your toddler is a girl, imagine it’s books instead of a device. It’s literally the same asinine and almost universally hypocritical arguments.
