Parents of youth players- If it looks a bit drizzly this weekend, make sure you check in with the manager early on. They always appreciate a text asking 'Is the game still on?' - it shows you care & will help ensure they don't call the game off without telling anyone else.

Anyone know of a football club or centre that runs Super-Elite sessions for U12s and below? (Ideally with an U5s section to get the youngsters to the next level) 'Elite' just doesn't do it for me any more, this is 2021 and we need to kick on.

Youth Coaching Top Tip #79 Remember to shout 'SHOOT' when a player has the ball in front of goal. This reminds them that they can score by kicking the ball into the goal, in case they have forgotten. It also help to relax them & will show everyone that you know your stuff!

Having asked c.350 players aged 9-15 years old in the past few weeks what they DON'T like about playing football. #1 - Parents and coaches shouting at them. Nothing else came even close. Imagine - many children are playing DESPITE adults around them, not because of them.

Wondering about coaches who are ignoring guidelines & advice, going back to training now. Is this flagging up their attitude to safeguarding and safety in normal circumstances ? Or are they merely misguided and ignorant of the reasons why restrictions are in place?

Youth Coaching Top Tip #197 An odd number of players at training? A simple solution is to even up the teams by joining in. For eg, Having a 6' tall adult involved is much closer to match realism for U10s than teams taking turns to have an extra 9 year old. And safer! #baller

@SalfordsFinest1 @PeteOlusoga Apart from being nonsense- This mindset feeds into selection at youth so that players are selected into positions based on these assumptions, gaining more experience in those roles,it's a loop. Thus confirmation bias of selectors is reinforced, and repeated.

Perhaps when a govt, or indeed anyone, changes their mind after being asked to change their mind, we shouldn't call it a 'U-Turn'. IMO being open to changing your kind when presented with evidence is a sign of strength not weakness, in any walk of life.

Parents - Your manager needs some time to reflect after the game. Top Tip- don't interrupt their thinking time by offering to put away goals, flags & barriers etc They really enjoy that extra half hour sorting things out, rather than rushing straight home- leave them to it!
