I'm a coach. I have BA's in both sociology and history. I also have a Masters in PUBLIC POLICY. Based on MY life's experiences, coaches would make far better politicians than these mouthbreathers we have in office. Coaches are professional problem solvers.
We do understand most people lack history knowledge because most US HS social studies teachers are coaches (usually football) who just have the teaching position so they can coach.
Are we ready for that conversation?

Special Teams Coordinators are often tagged as Interim HCs. Yet they're rarely (if ever?) given the full time role at the end? In managing personnel (having to manage players from every position group), STC is one of the hardest roles in football. Successful STCs make good HCs.

This is the first year in 27 years that Im not gearing up for camp as a player or coach. It was a tough non-football related decision. God clearly put me in a position to pick a path and I listened. My message to the guys: embrace camp, be relentless, and get on special teams!

To kids going JUCO, you gotta learn to compete in the classroom too. Your GPA is part of the competition. If you are equally skilled, or even more skilled, than another guy but his GPA is great and yours is questionable, kiss your ride goodbye.

JC kids, that 2.5 gpa needed to be D1 transfer eligible is exactly that, just eligibility. It does not mean schools are going to now pick you up and have faith in your classroom skills.
You need a higher gpa to make yourself more than simply eligible. You need to be valuable.

1) Special Teams
2) Film breakdown for tendency recognition
3) Run scout periods
4) Use 2 and 3 to be great at fast gameday boothwork!
None of them are flashy but they are invaluable. Lot of guys skip these steps and it shows.

I've honestly long believed guys see other guys on ESPN living in the office, never home, and then think that's the only way. Through my career, ive seen coaches need their kids at practice in order to see them. You can coach another year, you can't get your family time back.
If you never listen to another thing I say, hear this: if you "eat, sleep, and breathe football" at the expense of your family, you need to reassess your priorities. Coaching 🏈 should be fun, and your assistants should have fun too. The GRIND is not a badge of honor!

When it comes to developing a defense, I truly don't care if an offense has a good idea of what we will be in. Keep it simple and be GREAT at it. I do not believe repeating base calls is a lack of ingenuity. Kids can just play fast the less they think.
