🧵Enabling player expression: Ultimately, the ball is the single most important dimension in football. If you have the ball, you cannot concede. If you have the ball, you have the power to score.

@doublepivotorg_ Bobby Clark is a very solid young player, but when you compare him to the likes of Nyoni and Bajcetic… you can see why we can afford to let him go.

Many assume Zubimendi’s role is to solve the defensive fragilities we suffered last season in a Klopp system where our defensive structure was vulnerable and we struggled to retain possession due to our controllers (Trent & MacA) lacking ‘pausa’.

@EBL2017 I really expect better from EBL. such a vague diagnosis. MacA lacks pausa and isn’t a primary receiver. Two simple points you should have noticed during last season which vastly contrasts what Slot wants from his #6 . He then goes on to suggest Palhinha…

I miss Gini so much. His box-crashing traits never left him because he was blessed with so much footballing IQ. JK turned him into a press resistant, ball retaining monster — a role some of us now appreciate. And, wait.. he was also a space-eater! #LFC

@HendrickD82 Bajcetic can definitely be a 6. I think it would make sense for Bajcetic to play the 6 as his profile suits the 6 more than neves and then neves be an 8, or play a double pivot

@nonewthing Baj will probably be used as a utility player (Inverted RB, 6, 8) for a few years whilst his body matures and his availability is limited. once his body matures we’ll probably sell Jones or Mac and Endo and he will become a starting LCM for us (probably competing with Grav)

Another prodigious performance from Gravenberch. Subsequently, he has usurped all of our deep midfielders. I still have reservations, with Grav #6 , against *elite* opposition. However, if we can recruit a quality #6 , Grav has secured his role alongside them as the advanced pivot.

The academy recruitment team have done a really good job of recent. Quansah, Bradley, Baj, Elliott all first teamers in recent years, plus the likes of Danns, Clark, Nyoni ect coming through. I think In a few years we will see half of our starting 11 made from academy lads.

The concept of acquiring physical specimens is sooooo overstated on this app and I’m sick and tired of it. Yes, you need physical specimens. Box dominators, CF’s, CB’s, DM’s. However, you do not need a 6’6, powerhouse, who needs WD40 to half turn, to get the ball from A to B…

Jayden Danns: (1/11) Socio Effective - good weight of pass and turning radius, can bring runners Into play via through balls However, lack of desire to make the box (box crashing) after initial pass.

We already have the Salah replacement(s) at home. Nunez will replace his output, Elliott will replace his creativity. The problem is neither are ready, yet. Over the next 2 years we should plan to alleviate Salah of the burden and give Nunez and Elliott more responsibility.

@doublepivotorg_ Dario Osorio. He gives me Di Maria vibes. I think we should flip the frontline dynamics to create more balance (considering Trent RB). Osorio - creator/facilitator for Szoboszlai LCM, Nunez ST and a monumental LW.

@SeanDOlfc Nah, Quansah was just caught too square and flat on his feet. The more experience he gains he won’t get caught like that, not to mention Watkins initial burst was elite.

Do not be surprised, we have seen this is Szoboszlai’s evolution. He has the physical attributes however his passing range, vision and execution is vastly underrated. He will need to develop his maturity IP, the tools are there, this is a very intelligent player.

Under Slot, our defensive/central structure will be compact. This shortens distances between our players and closes down space for the opposition to exploit, therefore there’s less distance for our defensive players to cover.

It is important you make Szoboszlai feel like the superstar he is. He thrives when given responsibility. At RCM, he’s a facilitator for two superstars and therefore becomes more reserved. Move him LCM, make him the chief creator of the LHS and watch him flourish.

@LewisFN00 This isn’t unusual, a young 6/8 hybrid. Bajcetic can play eithier the 6 or the 8 it comes down to what the club see him as as they will mold him into that position and it seems like they see him as a 6.

I would also like to say. Quansah is severely underrated, elite mental profile and ball playing ability. Working with VVD will ensure his understanding/positioning will be top. Yes, he has some physical deficiencies however most can be improved upon. Elite CB there.
Although I believe Yoro’s current ability and ceiling are slightly overrated, If we want to compete at the highest level, it is imperative we acquire many generational talents and capitalise on unique market opportunities as often as possible...

@pIaymak3r Playing with a double pivot next season will ease the issue. Attacking LCM like Dom, Grav, Clark maybe even Carvalho can play at AM and the likes of Baj, Jones,McConnel can play in the pivot. Mac looks comfortable at rcm aswell.

1/2 One thing Arteta has done fantastically is the culmination of different profiles. For instance Zinchenko/Kiwior, Jorginho/Partey, Ø/Viera, Havertz/Jesus. This is such a great tactical weapon as they have a profile suited to every game/game state.

@LewisFN00 Caicedo and Bruno are more 8’s to me. Regardless of what the club saw Bajcetic as when we attempted to sign Lavia, the signing of Gravenberch shows we now definitely see Bajcetic as a 6

Bajcetic excels in ground coverage, ground duelling and carrying over long distances whereas Zubimendi is a primary receiver and excels in defensive IQ, aerial duelling and deep playmaking.

@Haniscinema Grav-Zubi-Elliott. Very controversial, I know, but we are yet to balance our midfield dynamics. Szobo offers good running, but lacks output/creativity. Mac is our best midfielder but isn’t an optimal partner for Zubi…

@TheTimothySteve Ugh, i’m bored. Transitions are inevitable and impossible to negate. Defending is a team effort. If you have the correct system and players who are smart and can cover distances (Bajcetic/VVD/Konate) you will be more than fine.

Slot also places a huge onus exerting control. Unlike our current midfielders, Zubimendi is a metronome, he posses ‘La pausa’ and can dictate the tempo of our attacks. This will enable us to retain possession and therefore, decrease transitions.

@Tank_LFC Been good. Looked pretty sharp, good fundamentals and shown some nice trickery. Still looks a bit lightweight and I think he needs to develop an engine to make it at the top level. He’s looked confident on the ball but has started to over indulge a little at the end of the half

@TheTimothySteve @memzjLFC @Lifeuknow1 Talent doesn’t include mental profile. Talent is purely ability, in this regard Jesus is better. He was touted as the next Neymar is Brazil. Firmino, of course, very talented aswell but not to the level of Jesus. At least Bobby fulfilled his potential however.

@LewisFN00 I definitely do not think they see Bajcetic as a Trent Backup. Due to rotation maybe he will play there a few times but not long term. I think Bruno, Caicedo and Bajcetic are all 6/8 hybrid can play eithier depends on where their clubs play them

@CongestTheBox Diomande solves multi purposes. Defends channels a la Konate, versatile a la Gomez and can succeed VVD. All for 42M! His ceiling may not be as high as Yoro and he may not be as refined as Quansah but the base is most definitely there.

@TobsForlowski Morrison for me would be best utilised in central zones. He looks quality, but like with Kone-Doherty I think it’s a tad too early to tell. I can’t wait to see that Northern Irish right hand side of Morrison and Bradley in the future.

@Yuvraj557722991 Lukeba is a better defender than than Calafiori, but Calafiori is a much more expansive mind on the ball. Yoro is the best CB prospect on the market, Diomande is second. For what we need you get Lukeba and Yoro but out of the two Calafiori and Yoro.

@ItsBis02 Koumas was so so good, a cut above. Nyoni was also great, it’s mad to think he’s only 16. Morrison impressed aswell, playing up too. No Danns, Doak, Gordon, TKD, Clark, McConnnell, Bajcetic aswell. We are stacked for the future.

To conclude, Zubimendi epitomises Slot’s ideologies. The misconception is that he should alleviate our defensive difficulties however his role is to be a metronome. To accommodate this, Bajcetic is required to construct balance.
