Walked into the OR, all women — a physician, a fellow, a resident, a student, a nurse, a scrub tech, an anesthesia CRNA.
AND — two were pregnant ✨
How exciting!!

Keep healthcare human ✨
I've dedicated my med career to supporting underserved populations and will continue to do so.
Healthcare should not be a luxury. Let’s keep the interest and dignity of every patient at the core of our practice. APGF
Saw my very first labor yesterday and it was complicated with shoulder dystocia.
Baby was born blue.
I wanted to cry when it was all over.
Witnessing birth is one of the most beautiful and scary things I’ve EVER experienced.
Baby and momma are okay✨
Few things I learned this past week:
✅ treat your patients like you want your mom to be treated
✅ eating lunch is not a weakness
✅ its okay to shake a bit while suturing (you are learning)
✅ know your community, at times it can affect management

😬When I mention I am applying to urology next year, I always get the question “are you considering a research year?”
I know its competitive but having to say “no, not right now” & getting that “👀”
Makes me question, do most student do a research year? Should i be?

My mom went back to school at 54yrs young 💖
😤She was told at 18, “you’ve never been good with grades so why go to college”
Now… NOTHING/NO ONE is stopping her 🔥📚

When I decided to pursue urology, I began showing up to every panel I could to learn what it takes.
One night, I ended up in an IMG call and this just happened —
Through these empowering ladies I learned how much harder IMGs work and how important advocacy is.

Our speed mentoring program is a unique opportunity at SWIU conferences!
➡️ Trainees ask questions, get advice and reflect on career goals
➡️ Practicing urologists provide wisdom and expertise, address concerns and explore shared interests
Often leads to long term mentorship ✨
Post-complicated delivery—
🤰 Resident: “what specialty are you interested in?”
Me: “Urology ⛲️"
🤰 Resident: “Surgery… I can tell. You have the intensity of us surgeons”
Me *internally*: dont know exactly what that means, but ill take it 🤪🤩💃🏻
Today’s health fair in Ponce, PR! 🤩 We were able to offer patients free PSA screenings, program appointments with Urologists and provide education on topics like urinary incontinence, prostate cancer and HPV related cancers. Looking forward to more days like this.

In my previous sub-i, an amazing physician said —
“The hardest decision a surgeon has to make is NOT to operate 🗡️”
Today we had to abort a case, after anesthesia and prep, due to a urethral stricture.
It was hard and I only suction and stitch🫨
