My Aunt turned 90 yesterday. She came to Montreal from Italy 71 years ago. She debarked the train from Halifax on a Friday night. Monday morning she started work as a sewing machine operator. She worked all her life. C'est ca les immigrants, M. Boulet!

My mom's ancestors came from Albania to Italy in the 1600's. They are still fluent in Albanian, without the benefit of an Albanian education. My mom came to Canada in 1951 & still speaks Albanian every day, plus 3 other languages. Laws are not necessary to preserve a language.
