The answer is Heartland Virus! Thanks for participating. All these tick-borne illnesses respond to doxy with the exception of heartland virus! So the fact that he is not improving implicates Heartland Virus!

Something I learnt today: Inaccurate platelet counts can happen if platelets are unusually large (may be counted as red cells) or if erythrocyte fragments (schistocytes) are miscounted as platelets, leading to false high counts. #MedX

Here is a little mnemonic I came up with for Warfarin. 1,2,3,4,5 1 - How many days to wait after surgery before restarting warfarin (generally) 2 - 3 Goal INR 4 - Reverse with Vitamin K (kinda looks like a 4) 5 - How many days you should hold before major surgery
