6 months ago, I left my corporate tech career to start a home cleaning business.
Here's the
#s
so far:
▪️$120,191.19 in revenue
▪️534 total bookings
Hopeful & excited for Q4 🙏🏼
If you would have told me in January that I would start a company in march and by August we would be at 80k revenue- in just 5 months. I would have had a hard time believing it. My goal was 100k company revenue by the end of year 1. We will double that & I couldn’t be more happy
Checked my reports page today, $93,096.85 total revenue generated since our first reservation (March 1). September will be our 6 month mark and we will be well over $100k (which was my initial annual goal). Believing in myself and taking chances is all I needed.
Company made $19k last month. We should have made $7k profit. I completely bombed our ad strategy and on top of that, it was the first month of onboarding 2 new VA’s so they cost $ but NO ROI (so our VA in his 2nd month had to run the company half the month during training).
Just finished filing for my second LLC. Another full service cleaning company but this time in the Metro Atlanta area. The goal - to not get COMPLACENT.
I would not have been able to build and automate a company in six months if it were not for a bunch of people around me. As hard as I work I really do owe a lot of people a thank you for the conversations, support and investments in me.
Today the Miami company did $1316.15 in sales and had 4 cleans on the books. Our monthly rev is at $13,930.72 and our expenses to contractor expenses totaled to $7,161.14. We absolutely shitted the bed this month, we’ll bounce back next month.

Now that my company has 3 VA’s + me I am extremely confident we can hit a $30k month within the next 2 months. Thomas brought in almost $7k his first month! Let’s see what the 2 new admins can do..
Closed out our first $1000 clean for the books! Shout out my bro
@itsjonmelillo
for the alley hoop! Construction clean for a sunglass place, took 8 hours and 4 providers - 32 man hours.
Just got our first commercial contract signed. An apartment complex, that I’ve been working to land for about 3 months now. Persistence and patience + being likable landed us this contract $16,800 in ARR. Let’s go!
In the beginning of my business owning journey the only thing I thought about was end of month revenue. Now I 100% focus on recurring revenue - systems, processes, and operations. Which will get me to my end of month revenue goal.
Communication is everything I strive to make sure that I over communicate with the people around me so there’s nothing left for assumptions and we can all be on the same page. Nothing better than talking through a misunderstanding.
The cleaning business made 50k+ since February. But we spent $13k+ on ads (LSA / TT)… leading me to the very obvious conclusion there’s nothing like ORGANIC leads. (SEO, D2D, CC & CE, ND / FB posts)
My VA started part time on Monday as our official Office Admin. He’s already locked in 1 recurring client & went 1/1 on his 1st sales call. His excitement / desire is to work for my company is unreal & makes me feel indescribable as a 1st time business owner 🥹
#grateful
Will be posting more content and documenting my journey more for us all to benefit from the nuance together. The first level of entrepreneurship is leveraging other people and the second is leveraging your voice.
Training 3 VA’s in the last 6 weeks has been so exhausting. But the reward is on the way. Higher revenue and I have to answer ZERO calls going forward. They also cover their own salaries because of the sales they bring in.
Nothing like having Business Owner friends when you’re a Business Owner. Thank you to my boys for always building me up and supporting me. This lifestyle isn’t for the weak.
When interviewing VAs, ask if this will be their only job (part time too) & what their living situation is.. 2 nuanced questions that will allow u to gauge how important the job is to them. We tend to think because they’re overseas they need the job and that’s just not the case.
Training 4 admins at one time in two different groups is no joke 😅 I’m pouring my all into these trainings in hopes it pays off big time going into 2025.
Huge fan of pushing it to the limit.. and having aggressive goals. But when your body tells you it’s time to rest / take some time away. You gotta listen.
Today for our Miami company did $459 in sales and had 2 jobs on the books. Our monthly rev is at $4,313.17 (we had LSA and thumbtack off for awhile) and our expenses to totaled to $242.80 2 5 star reviews!
Starting to get more thorough with my daily VA meetings - continuing to build on the SOP is important and some things you just have to go through to patch and then implement a better solution.
Hired another small cleaning company recently. They’ll be doing their 2nd job for me today. This will be my 3rd cleaning company I’ve partnered with overall. It’s simpler and easier to me and works well in this MIA market.
Last week I changed our company number. I subsequently went like 5 days straight with like 1 call a day. I felt discouraged, today we had 12 calls. Oh how the tide changes
Finally sharing my story and business owning journey on Instagram. Was nervous to share my story there because friends, family, etc.. what a dumb reason. It’s time!
New business’s LLC just came back approved.. Time to build this 2nd company up and get it automated! Super excited to start another company after bumping my head so many times with my 1st.
Being a business owner and not having a ceiling to my income makes me incredibly eager to just go batshit crazy and get after it in every way. But I have to remind myself how important pacing things are & then mentally, things fall into perspective for me.
A cleaner asked me to change the pay on her job today from $155 to $250. I obliged.. why? Because she is my rockstar and I’d do pretty much almost sorta kinda anything for her. If I learned 1 thing in tech recruiting, it’s take care of your employees and they’ll return the fav.
Guy submits 5 inquiries on thumbtack then complains he’s “being bombarded by calls and wishes it wasn’t this way.” Yeah dumbass that’s what happens when you ask 5 different business owners for their services.

in April. Started my business in March. Now it’s June & this is no side hustle anymore..
I’ve got over 10 cleaners & average 15 cleans every weekend. This entrepreneur lifestyle is usually overwhelming but knowing it’ll pay off big makes it 10x more worth it.
May we hit our all time high of $17.5k, June / July we stalled at $17k & it was all my fault. I wasnt following up w customers after their cleans, I was burnt out & life was simply kicking my ass. August WILL be the month we set a new ATH. Currently at $13k
What’s your Aug goal?
One of our main lead sources has been patching some glitches they had, that allowed us to get low cost leads. Causing my company to have to step up our Organic Leads funnel. When you’re a business owner you have to be ready to pivot 🤷🏾♂️
Here were our challenges today - im still a bit sick, I spent 6 hours training new hires and cannot focus on business / revenue or managing the business.
I don’t have any automatic SMS OR Email campaign tech in my stack. So I’m going to manually text everyone from last month to generate some organic revenue. With our website link being the call to action and “prices as low as..” being our hook.
I have a meeting everyday with my VA’s. Today one took the lead on a meeting and spoke on how to handle a few particular situations & best practices. I’m really proud of the team we are building! Culture is just as important as performance in my eyes.
Client called during her cleaning today, asking if the girls can clean the floors on their hands and knees. But did not want to pay any more money for it since, “they are already going to clean the floor anyway.” Tbh I almost said something crazy to her.
How would you react?
@pontodotdev
The ad mistake was a huge lesson! I have friends in the industry, & comparing what they spend versus me on a monthly basis helps a ton. Thanks for putting things in a macro perspective. Sometimes I can get so tied up in the weeds focusing on areas of opportunity
$600 construction clean booked - contractor decided to use us again ✅
The admins will follow up with him & get him locked in for future cleans. What else should I do to secure his future business?
So far the guy has been cool and easy to work with, I’d love to keep him.
Closed out our first $1000 clean for the books! Shout out my bro
@itsjonmelillo
for the alley hoop! Construction clean for a sunglass place, took 8 hours and 4 providers - 32 man hours.
Benefits of having a VA feel infinite but here are a few i absolutely love!
More time to focus on:
- working out
- my relationship
- my spirituality
- family / friends
Not to mention all the work they take care of, sales they make & stress they take off my shoulder.
Today the Miami company did $519 in sales and had 2 jobs on the books. Our monthly rev is at $13955.72 (we had LSA and thumbtack off for a while this month while I traveled and have been training) and our expenses totaled to $233.73 & last but not least, 1 five star review!
“Hi! Just calling to see how much you charge for a standard clean!?”
“About $50 an hour”
“Ok, sure - bye”
“… can I help you with anything else!? When do you need to make a dec—“

The end
Been investing a lot of time into my companies presence on Facebook. Growing organically will eventually pay off. I’m posting intros in all the groups as opposed to company info. Best to provide VALUE first before trying to sell someone something!
Starting to outsource a bunch of everything: design, seo, va, and hiring (even with Google, Meta & Tesla recruiting on my resume). Creates more time for me to focus on my health and the online revenue of my company.
Cleaner called out last minute saying her husband left with another woman 😕 advice? What do I tell the client? We’re already hours late at this point… & Yes I’m trying to find another cleaner that’s available
Between my 2 companies, I’ve interviewed and hired 8 Office Assistants in the last 3 months. I fired 2 within their 1st month and lost 1 to school. The 2 I fired wasted 40 hours of my time (training) and so much money on lost resources and work
Team building / Company Culture means so much to me that I scheduled 1 call a month for my companies (joint call) where we stop business and just shoot the shit for 30 minutes.
Last month’s struggle was being able to interview / train / onboard 2 new VA’s all while maintaining a 3rd that had recently started. Now I have to do the same process all over again..
Woke up feeling under the weather today but it’s day 9 of 10 of VA training for my new one. So I hit my partner up to tell him. His response: “It’s okay bro get some rest I can train her myself.”
I think I chose the right partner to do business with.
Cleaners and office assistants are the lifeline to my business.
It is so important to bolster my relationship with them and continue to train them + build good company culture.
A few bucks for coffee or a random holiday bonus goes a long way.
Nothing like your team showing up to a clean and the power or water is off. If you own a cleaning business be sure ask questions around this on sales calls to avoid any potential headaches.
Another 12 hour day. Putting in this much work at this point is the only thing that feels right tbh. Just keep telling myself nothing worth having comes easy.
My focus areas for the new location (Oct):
▪️Onboard 10 cleaners (2 per operational county)
▪️Delegate more manager tasks
▪️Train & onboard 4 new VA’s
▪️Tighten up SOPs (adding videos)
▪️Cold call / email commercial prospects
Full steam ahead.
One of our Day 1 cleaners texted us saying she got a bunch of carpet cleaning equipment. Now we don’t have to rent them anymore which was a logistical headache. Charging $70 a room..
This has been an incredibly useful upsell!
POV: Customer wakes u up claiming u frauded her. Says u took her CC information and your company is scammers who don’t show up for the job. I feel like my response was great. Did I eat?? (She booked with another company, similar name thinking it was us) [thumbtack lead]
Our Training SOP is all encompassing but im in the process of recording dozens of video content to help ease the amount of information my new employees have to digest.
My view of Miami is skewed. Had too much fun not sure if this is where I need to be living. Just the mature side of me speaking. This may be more of a place to visit. Too many distractions
Simultaneously made changes to my GMB, LSA & Thumbtack settings (always hides your biz for a lil) - as well as had to change our company number. Tough weekend to say the least. But we will bounce back..
Our atlanta company is still on to launch Nov 1. We had all 3 OA’s hired and their training started today but 1 did not show because “her job changed her shift bc a colleague suddenly left” - so back to hiring another assistant and contractors.
