A simple google search found the issue had been tabled for automation since......1981. And as recent as 2014, Obama had looked into it.
Federal employee retirements are processed using paper, by hand, in an old limestone mine in Pennsylvania. 700+ mine workers operate 230 feet underground to process ~10,000 applications per month, which are stored in manila envelopes and cardboard boxes. The retirement process takes multiple months.

@codyaims You need an education system that produces generations of disciplined and motivated workers and engineers and scientists. You need a finance system that invest in long term goals instead of next quarter’s earning. You need investment in infrastructures. U need to be like PRC.

@darreljlewis1 @BonnieGlaser Maybe you can enlighten me then. FYI, I actually do deal with Huawei in an on-going patent battle right now. I am advising on the challenger for royalty. Anyway, I don't see how your evidence supports your claim. It is more akin to the british banning German tech pre ww1.

@darreljlewis1 @BonnieGlaser Not so sure a 2003 lawsuit that ended in withdrawl and a report in 2012, explains a ban starting in 2018 in a different industry.

@darreljlewis1 @BonnieGlaser The Huawei Cisco lawsuit took place in 2003 which was 15 years before the ban. You sure the timing matches? Got better examples? Like, what 5G tech Huawei stole from the US?
