Today is #worldhearingday Hearing loss is a substantial and growing problem for society, but is systematically underrecognized and underfunded. See this article in JAMA about how we can do better - during the pandemic and beyond.

@eric_weinhandl @hswapnil @mikejohansenmd @medrxivpreprint @JeremySussman IMO the study goals also matter. If CKD is the exposure, then it’s critical to get it right. In my experience, with large datasets, choice of definition for CKD-as-covariate doesn’t much affect the parameters of interest, whether eGFR is also included or not.

@andrewwsteele 3/3. - Oliguria often improves by dropping the PEEP i.e. these patients are really hypovolaemic. [many patients have a zero fluid balance and temperature of 39 i.e. they are 2-3 L negative in reality.]Most centres are therefore now backing off strict zero balance

@drjjw @Msood99M @S_brimble Nobody knows what is truly best & these decisions are personal. IMO self-isolation is better for treating one’s own natural anxiety than preventing COVID if your family is healthy. My wife and I are both hospital-based physicians and both of us sleep at home. Stay well.
