Formally Announcing: the cEDH Rules Committee (or cEDH RC for short) We know you have some questions, so lets go through them:
Why?
Who?
How?
When?
A 🧵 (1/7):
The cEDH Rules Committee is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community. We unequivocally denounce antisemitism and all forms of discrimination, and we stand firmly in support of diversity and inclusivity. 1/x
In our efforts to shape the future of the project, we have been in ongoing discussions with
@luastardust
and
@kenlikescarbs
. Their insights, along with those from the broader community, are invaluable as we chart our path forward.
To the cEDH community,After careful consideration, we regret to announce that the cEDH Rules Committee project is coming to an end. We made it clear that if we believed this project would divide the community rather than unite it, we would not hesitate to step away. (1/8)
We firmly believe there is still room for this project to have a positive and lasting impact on the cEDH community, but we need to make sure we are aligned with said community.
Thank you for your continued support
and we are taking this opportunity to step back, restructure, and rethink our approach. This includes actively listening to community feedback and using it to guide our next steps.
We are also clarifying that the cEDH Rules Committee is not associated with any Tournament Organizer (TO) at this time. As a result of this, Mikey has stepped down from the project. Our primary focus is the health and vitality of the community,
Why? In short - We believe that community-driven management of format will keep the cEDH tournament metagame fresh & exciting. The EDH RC has said that should come from within the Community - we'd like to try. You can read our full philosophy here: (2/7)
Thanks for reading! We hope that our first Update & laying out of future looking plans & philosophies shines light on what we're aiming for - a more community-driven cEDH tournament environment. Signed, Evan, Matthew, Datatog, Mikey, & Baldy (7/7)
Who, Part 2 We are NOT affiliated with any tournament organizer, LGS, or any other group. We're a fully independent entity. We would like two more members, but don't have more info at this time. You can read more about the team here: (4/7)
How? Via a new banlist, silly! However, No alternate banlist has been fully agreed upon yet. Throughout the process, we will work to be as inclusive of as much of the community as is possible. Read our 10 principles here: (5/7)
When? We are aligning this initiative with the upcoming TopDeck season, with a first draft of the proposed banned list & a community feedback forum launching later this month (Sep.) & a final decision by Late Nov. See the whole schedule here: (6/7)

@BobbieChristxne
@Zrob0
Zain is not a part of the committee and we plan to add 2 new members. We will be opening to community suggestions this week as to who those members will be, feel free to get started here!
Unfortunately, we have reached that point.While we believe that a project like this is feasible, its success depends on being built organically from within the community itself. cEDH is a vast and diverse group, filled with amazing individuals from various backgrounds, (2/8)
but uniting everyone under a single vision has proven to be incredibly difficult. For a similar group to be truly effective, it must encompass the perspectives from a much larger portion of the community.Despite the challenges, (3/8)
We're all part of this community because we share a love for cEDH, even though we might have different perspectives on how to make it better. Thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative. (6/8)
especially if they come directly from within the community we all love. Our goal has always been to foster unity and mutual respect, and it is vital that we all continue to support one another, even in the face of disagreements. (5/8)
we remain optimistic about the future of cEDH. The format continues to grow, and we are confident that it will evolve in exciting and positive ways. We hope that future efforts to bring positive changes to the format will succeed, (4/8)
@frimframboise
There is more information to come as well. This is all being built from the ground up, so need to start somewhere. Now we just need to see where it all goes.
@luastardust
@jellboi
This is definitely a possibility and something we have talked about, but this would likely be something we explore if an altered banlist actually sees use in 2025.
@antikhaoz
We will see how things evolve over time. For now, we do not know if a new banlist will be whats best, but we want to give people a voice, try to see what changes can be made and see if it has buy-in from players/TOs. If we get to that point, we can discuss a name change.
@jellboi
Mikey actively talks to TOs from other countries already. However, we have two more seats to fill and potentially getting one of those TOs is on the list. Something we need to discuss more as a group. We will likely have applications for the last two members.
@MischaFly
The current plan is having applications for people that want to apply for the last two seats. As for anonymous feedback, we can make a google form, or something similar, in the future.
@notsticksean
We will see where things go. For now we just want to be a place where people are able to share feedback on the format and propose changes. We do not know if anything will be fully implemented, but we want to promote some experimentation and have a place to discuss the format.
@Pandanleluc
Collusion is a can of worms that is extremely hard to regulate. The difference between a misplay and "collusion" is pretty hard to prove. As for draws, that is something we are discussing possible solutions for.
@HoldinPriority
We are planning to have applications for the last two seats, so we will go from there. I think getting TOs from other countries on board would be fantastic.
