Am I the only one frustrated that Cheltenham races have no permanent identity these days? What the hell is the Turners, or the Brown Advisory? Give them permanent names and let ephemeral sponsors be satisfied with having their brand incorporated in the full name.

Gutted to hear poor old USA lost his life in that last race- been around forever. Won on the Flat including at Laytown and Dundalk, hurdling and chasing in a total of 7 wins from 70 starts. Deserved life in a field somewhere.

Came away from Cheltenham wondering how their obvious targeting of the 18-30 demographic will work out. Can't use cash anywhere on track (xcept bookies), no coverage of away meetings anywhere except betting shops, loud "mood" music constantly- racing afficianados not catered for.

Coursing season trashed by Fianna Fáil in some kind of horse trading with the greens. Not one iota of risk in it, outdoors. Hope they enjoy canvassing in the likes of Kerry, Tipp and other rural areas next time. Hundreds of specially bred animals now with no chance to compete.

The powers that be won't see it this way, but as a race fan and punter Punchestown is no longer fit for purpose. Too many graded race options resulting in small field uncompetitive racing which is a turn off for everyone except connections. Like Cheltenham 3 days was perfect.

On our current trajectory we are heading for 5000 cases each day in Dublin by end of October. Sadly, 0.5 to 1% of those may die of it: 25 to 50 people daily, based on our past experiences, and many others will get sick. So change is needed again in my view.

Coursing being unfairly targeted by the authorities again. Biggest week in their season cancelled with no notice, affecting hundreds of participants and their dogs trained to the minute. Was on duty last weekend and a safer pursuit in the open air you could’nt find.

Not making any connection with recent events, but for jockeys’ mental and physical health I think racing should take the opportunity of keeping the revised post lockdown weights. I haven’t heard any professionals complaining about them.

Just cannot imagine the plight of poor Graham Lee. Such a massive, massive change in your whole life in a fraction of a second- heartbreaking. Keep thinking back to that eerie day at Cheltenham when JT Mac got hurt. They take some risk.
