An update on our son Gavin (19), now undergoing the 3rd of 4 chemotherapy treatments for a cancerous tumor between his heart & lungs. He's been doing quite well between treatments & looks quite good, all things considered. Chemo is rough, as expected. Thank you for the prayers!

I'm happy to note that in the process of looking at the Catholic Church, as an Evangelical, numerous Catholics encouraged me to convert.
Of course, all of them had been dead for decades or centuries. Still, they were effective: Augustine, Aquinas, Newman, Chesterton, etc.

An update: Gavin finished his first 5 days of chemo on Thurs. Very weak, vomiting, etc., as expected. Down about 30 pounds from his normal weight, in large part because the initial pain from the tumor was so intense. A total of 80 days of treatment, then assessment for surgery.
But, last week, after experiencing severe chest/back pain, he was diagnosed with cancer. He has a tumor between his heart and lungs; doctors give him a 50/50 chance with chemo, which begins this week. In your charity, please say a prayer for Gavin and our family.

Yep. Here is a pic taken a few days ago of my 81-year-old father, Dennis E. Olson, who has been a gunmaker/smith in Plain, MT for over 50 years. He can build or fix just about anything that isn't mired in computer "stuff." In his spare time, he snowmobiles, hunts, hikes, etc.
The self-sufficiency of people in Montana -- men in particular -- is mind blowing. Guys in NYC rarely know how to fix anything. They have to call the super for a clogged toilet. South Florida was the same. Here, they can build, fix -- actual men. It's nice to see.

Phhwww. This is sentimental vacuousness and truly banal ecclesiology. The Church—the Mystical Body of Christ and the household of God—exists for the salvation of souls, the praise and glory of God, the sanctification of the world, and the establishment of the Kingdom.
The Church exists to keep alive in people’s heart the memory that God loves them. It exists to tell everyone, even those furthest away: “God doesn’t forget you, He cares about you”.

Using this sort of "logic", one would also have to conclude the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom and other Eastern liturgies are creations of "the gay priesthood". Which, if you know some history and theology, is more than laughable—it is sheer stupidity.
