In your charity, will you say a prayer for Linda, who is approaching death. She was a second mother to me when I was a teen; a loving and patient Catholic who put up with this often obnoxious Fundamentalist boy on countless occasions. May God grant her peace in these final days.

If it takes 5000 words to say: Blessings can be given to individuals who ask for them with apparent sincerity and right intention. Blessings cannot be given to couples/"unions" that are not a sacramentally married husband/wife. Then we have reason to suspect the worst.

Just read the full address. It's exceptional. But it's no surprise that many people, including some Catholics, are wetting themselves over this. And that's because, again, far too many American Catholics are far more American than they are Catholic. I suggest reading Rev 3:14-19.

I think I'm beginning to understand: when rich celebrities at The Met are "wowed" for 20 minutes by a Catholic choir, that's evangelization; when Catholics want traditional, sacred music for an entire Mass, that's rigid and nostalgic or worse. Got it.

I distrust anyone who asks, "Well, what do [kids, millennials, GenXers, left-handed soccer moms, etc] want from liturgy?" If you are trying to figure out what people want from worship, you probably have failed to understand what worship really is and liturgy is for.

It really is something to see trendy adults rant, curse and threaten like crack-addled goons and loons because a few teens, in a surreal situation, supposedly failed to achieve some sort of enlightened moral plane. I'd say it's hypocrisy but that's likely insulting to hypocrites.

Nobody in our family has been to an Ash Wednesday service in 20 years*. My daughter asked me (referring to FB posts): "Why do so many Catholics who don't follow Church teachings, or people who are not Catholic, make such a big deal out of Ash Wednesday?" Whelp. Go figure...

I enjoy Chesterton for his joyful and verbose wit, Ronald Knox for his lean and dry wit, and Frank Sheed for his warm and self-deprecating wit. In addition, they never wrote with hatred, rage, or bloodlust. Good models for any and all writers, especially those on social media.

So nice to see this reposted by a priest/SJ who regularly sneered and sniped publicly at JPII and BenXVI, carries water for pro-abortion POTUSes, avidly promotes women priestesses, and proffers public disdain for belief in transubstantiation.

Let's assume Biden is "a sincere man of faith". This means, as a lifelong Catholic, he doesn't understand Church teaching about abortion, marriage, sexuality—or he believes such teaching doesn't matter. So: he is either an idiot or a fool. More believable: he sold his soul.

There are plenty of sinners within the Church. That’s a given. But I’ve always been more amazed by the saints than I am disheartened by the hypocrites. All it takes to be a hypocrite is to be human, while it takes supernatural grace to be a saint.

This statement, by @JoanDChittister @NCRonline , is disingenuous. It's a blatant lie. One can say, without exaggeration, that JPII's pontificate was focused on implementing VII. Both he and BXVI referred to VII often. And what of the CCC? The disdain for both men is so obvious.

There is a direct line between @NCRonline 's decades-long support of priestettes and its support for queer-ness and transgenderism. The anthropological errors, especially the juvenile insistence on radical autonomy, make it almost inevitable. It's also boring.

I learned many years ago that those who insist "The Church/Christians is/are too obsessed with sex and sexuality!" are almost always, in fact, 1) the ones really obsessed, 2) those who disdain traditional moral teaching, and 3) those who are committed to changing it.

Female bishops. Women priests. Same-sex unions. Gay love. Trans men. Trans women. What do they have in common? None are real. The anthropological insanity of our age flows from theological falsehood, and both are being foisted on the Church via ideology and sentimentalism.

Phhwww. This is sentimental vacuousness and truly banal ecclesiology. The Church—the Mystical Body of Christ and the household of God—exists for the salvation of souls, the praise and glory of God, the sanctification of the world, and the establishment of the Kingdom.

Using this sort of "logic", one would also have to conclude the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom and other Eastern liturgies are creations of "the gay priesthood". Which, if you know some history and theology, is more than laughable—it is sheer stupidity.
