A cool thing in SMT5V is that across the game, your demons will increasingly talk about how MC is losing his adolescence and by Taito, many describe him as having a fiercer gaze than any demon. It culminates with this line showing how his new form is directly shaped by his loss.

A mildly interesting thing people don't really talk about is how a good amount of the V designs are pretty clearly reimaginings of iconic characters/demons.
Mido -> Sophia. Rags -> Gustave. Pixie -> Amanozako. Cu Chulainn -> Fionn. Cerberus -> Hayataro.
i like how for smt V they replaced mido with this random lady with giant breasts and no one really questioned it all too much

In Kaneko Works I, Kaneko described Chaos Hero's design in the latter half of Shin Megami Tensei I as having the outfit of Piccolo with the vibe of Goku. His hairstyle in particular was based on Super Saiyan. Akira Toriyama's influence in pop culture really cannot be overstated.
