@mar5hallhoops Is the only reason to play club basketball is bc the player is college prospect? What if the player wants to become the best HS player possible? What if the player enjoys his club ball teammates? Are those reasons ok?

@jimshapiro That is possible in FB in which there is one game a week. In other HS sports there can be 3-4 games per week including back to backs.

@edsadloch Yes - when a school has 150 boys to chose from for those 5 it is different than a school having 75 to chose from.

@edsadloch School A has 350 students and School B has 150, but bc the schools are somewhat similar and located in the same area, the two schools are in the same conference.

@edsadloch School A is an urban private and determines its own enrollment. School B - 3 miles away - is an urban public school and must enroll anyone within its geographic borders.

@mar5hallhoops Related to this - the more certain news outlets tell us there is misinformation, perhaps the more true the information is

@MR_K_LEE @mar5hallhoops True, but there are some states that have few or any. I am referring to the national average.

@MR_K_LEE @mar5hallhoops What % of all HS kids on a HS roster play club basketball? My best guess is probably less than 30% nationally. For every large school program in which the number may be 80% there are 2-3 small school programs in which the number may be less than 30%.

@mar5hallhoops Why is it crazy if more kids want to play a sport?

@coachdeesmith So one is supposed to start a sport, a mere 5 years before 99% play their last season?

@CarlsonZach10 @bball_an @wiaawi You know how the narrative goes, be grateful for the refs bc without the refs there would be no games.

@CoachJonBeck Can be true, but to suggest this is the only scenario or only “type of parent” that gets upset is not accurate.

@gb1121 A coach can’t build a culture if the kids, parents, and administrators don’t want or can’t accept a culture with certain basic standards

@Adio10 And yet I have personally witnessed this with a talented player and thereafter he received multiple high major offers. Depends on where that player is on the “radar screen”

@Coach_DeMarco Everyone should play with energy and effort. Yet, it must also be noted that the dynamics of modern college basketball are different than many other levels.

@TheHoopHerald @thewinningdiff1 Should also include grandparents, teachers, and school administrators. More broadly, just say most adults

@franfraschilla Some can be, but 95% I believe are not. Following this logic, why would anyone want to be a customer service rep, airline counter employee etc. refs get paid fairly well (on a per hour basis- have little accountability and also get to work out while working).
