It was such an honor to spend my Memorial Day in DC with @MemorialDayPBS. It was an even greater honor to have them recognize and tell the story of my grandfather, Smitty Harris, spend time with the men he “roomed” with in Vietnam, and members of Gold Star Families. #GBU.
April 1965, Col. Carlyle "Smitty" Harris, @USAirForce pilot, was shot down by the North Vietnamese. 2,871 days in captivity as a POW, Smitty returned home to his family, who never gave up hope of his return. Hear their story on the National Memorial Day Concert 5/28, 8/7c on PBS.
