The hand wringing over student debt reform is always such a reminder of how little Australia values higher education as a public good, worthy of financial investment.
I’m sure anyone with HECS debts will love this, of course. But this is just transferring their debt to all taxpayers. What’s next, cutting home mortgage debts. It’s so profoundly economically irresponsible…but the opposition will probably match it as a populist gesture. #auspol.

Everytime Frydenberg mentions what something was like under a Labor government he should be reminded the party hasn’t been in office since 2013. #auspol @RNBreakfast.

Some news. I'm hopping over to Sydney to take on the position of Breaking News Reporter with @GuardianAus. Cliches aside, it's a dream come true. But I loved my time at @sheppartonnews and I'll miss everyone I met in the GV along the way. Now bring on the big smoke!.

Channel 9 choosing to cover a doubles game on their free to air network of Kygrios and Kokkinakis over Destanee Aiava’s second round game - who has just gone to a tiebreak in the first set - is a wildly disgraceful way to promote women’s sport @AustralianOpen @Channel9.

'There are genuine questions some in the media have to answer. You have to work very hard to build trust and maintain trust and if people within our ecosystem make the mistake of turning themselves into cheerleaders, that erodes faith in all of us' @Raf_Epstein on Vic election.

Spotted at Marrickville Primary School. Everyone is talking about the Teal independents but I think Otis and Olivia might be giving @AlboMP a run for his money.

Thanks @VirginAustralia for cancelling my flight to Melbourne with less than 2 hours notice, then not explaining you would also cancel my flight back home if I rejected your generous offer to fly 6am the next morning. Would’ve been cool if I had notice before trying to check in.

The daily death rate in Gaza is higher than any other major 21st century conflict and our elected representatives are peddling this level of Islamophobic filth - published without question by our public broadcaster. A disgrace. What a country we are.
New from me: Payman expected to quit the ALP after caucus colleagues reveal she told them she was being guided by god on her Palestine floor crossing decision, shocking her colleagues #auspol

Grace Tame says she likely wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for her fiancé and has had to call ER in recent days. She says the media has a lot to answer for - that shame should be directed at perpetrators, not trauma survivors. @SydOperaHouse #AllAboutWomen

Wow. This is an absolute disgrace. Mr Pocock would be rejected from entrance at the MCC yet he's permitted to stroll through parliament house at leisure in nothing but a t-shirt. Thanks Sky News for holding our democracy to account.
What do you think? Play on? 😂. I'd come straight from an early morning game of tennis to celebrate 100 years of Tennis ACT and agreed to do a door stop (not a prearranged interview) in the hallway on the way out of the Press Gallery after a morning radio interview. Great to

Everyone is deserving of humanity, but is seems particularly callous to publicly inflict this on a three-year-old-girl.
BREAKING: Tharni has been diagnosed with (untreated) pneumonia. We think this caused her blood infection. How did this go undiagnosed for so long that she became so ill? Please keep her in your thoughts. Karen Andrews, you can end this little girl's suffering today. #HomeToBilo

Commentators who say the AFL should stay out of the Voice forget sport has always been, and will always be a vehicle for social change. At times it's displayed Australia at its worst. Matches like tonight are footy at its best.

It’s difficult to write about chronic pain but I think it’s also important. If not just to remind us that we cannot understand the personal lives of others, and so may as well treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Creative non-fiction can be raw, personal and beautiful. Caitlin Cassidy's blog post, detailing what it's like to live with a chronic illness, is just that.

I wish political analysts talked more about how policies would impact people rather than how things polled.
Labor sources tell me their internal polling shows strong support in rural and regional electorates for their tax cut plan. In fact, more popular in rural and regional areas than in cities - it’s going well in parts of the country where the Voice was unpopular #auspol.
