1/ -- I've been meaning for a time to post a thread featuring some of my favorite images which I was able to include inside my book LA DUCHESSE, the biography of Marie de Vignerot, the Duchess of Aiguillon (1604-1675) that I published with @Pegasus_Books.

@roddreher Great to see this book by Prof. Eire (my wonderful doctoral adviser, who taught me so much about how to approach and write about history!) being talked about here on X. Others here might also check out his "Reformations" book and his work (older and newer) on St. Teresa of Avila.

The amount of US taxpayer money that was supposed to go to an ... Anthony Fauci exhibit (!?) at the NIH Museum (we actually have one?) ... is the equivalent of three or even four full years of PRE-TAX annual salary for numerous Americans. I for one am grateful this audit of America's beyond bloated, downright corrupt, federal bureaucracy is happening, FINALLY.
In the past 48 hours, HHS canceled 62 contract worth $182 million. These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses – none touched any healthcare programs. This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum.

@sister_allison A bat somehow got into an attic apartment I once lived in. A friend I frantically called over, hoping he'd trap & maybe kill it said, calmly, "Maybe it's St Francis in disguise." I laughed, we prayed to St Francis, & the bat soon made its merry way out a window we cracked open.

@SharylAttkisson In NYC, mail is often delayed or never turns up, the latter sometimes because of misdeliveries: mail for buildings a block away, or for far across town, regularly appears in residential and commercial mailboxes. Also, packages are misdelivered, lost, stolen, torn open or crushed.

I look forward to offering a historian's perspective on current discussions & debates about Catholicism and women in my plenary at this conference at Notre Dame in March.
Registration is now open for our upcoming conference, True Genius: The Mission of Women in Church and Culture, which will take place March 26–28 at the University of Notre Dame. We currently live in a polarized culture, and debates about women feed that polarization, which marks our society as well as the Church. On the one hand, there is a widespread assumption that Catholicism is anti-woman. On the other hand, in some Catholic circles, there is a growing anti-feminism that defies Church teaching. With @FavaleAbs at the helm, this conference aims to counter both of these misguided narratives by presenting anew the Church's understanding of women's dignity and significance in the Church and culture. @JLSoprano They are relatively slim. At least one or two of Jane Austen's novels came out in the same three-volume form.
