I'm listening to scanner traffic from the Dayton area. The damage sounds catastrophic. They're scrambling to mobilize. They are going house to house searching for people in the affected area. Sounds like people are trapped everywhere. Pray for our neighbors in Ohio tonight.
Here's something you don't see every day ... dolphins swimming through Wilmington, North Carolina. The surge likely brought them further inland than normal.

Hey everyone,
This will be my last post on this page for the next 2 weeks. For all health related updates, you can follow the Grey Matters Whitesburg, Inc. Facebook page.
@cameronwymt
&
@SSmithWeather
will be taking care of weather duties in my absence.
I’ll see you soon. 🩶
I guess you guys are stuck with me! I’m beyond humbled and blessed for this opportunity. I look forward to serving the people of the mountains for many years to come!
@WYMT
15 years ago today, December 30th, 2008, I made my on-air debut on WYMT.
I’ve been at the station 17 years in May. Time flies when you’re having fun!
Thanks for welcoming me into your homes all these years.
#MountainFamily
I know some of you don't have Facebook, so I wanted to share this news here for all of those who have kept up with my health journey over the years. You are much appreciated! God will get us through this trial too!
I made a trip to Pikeville earlier today and went up to the scenic overlook above Bob Amos Park. I had never been up there until today. What an amazing view! I'm trying to get out and explore more beautiful scenes like this one across the mountains. What else do I "need to see"?
Final update: We have escaped! The news is great. The EEG was completely normal. So, it looks like it was a medicine level issue after all.
Thank you all so much for all of the thoughts, prayers, messages and comments over the last several days. It’s meant the world to us. ❤️🙏🏻

I will be off for several days this week for some medical testing.
@EvanWYMT
will be filling in for me. I plan to be back on Thursday. More details in the pictures below.
After being off most of the month of September, I am back on your screens tomorrow, albeit from home. My blood clots have resolved enough to rejoin the Mountain News This Morning team to start the new week. See you at 5 a.m. on

“The future doesn’t belong to the faint hearted, it belongs to the brave.” Those words by President Reagan in the aftermath of the Challenger disaster still ring true today, 34 years later. This was of my first memories.

Nine years ago today, I stood on a sandy beach on a perfect day and said "I do" to the love of my life.
We have been through more than most couples go through in entire marriages in the past 9 years. I wouldn't change a thing.
Happy anniversary, my love. Here's to many more. ❤
Do you want to see the most 2020 forecast ever? This is from NWS Boulder, which serves Denver. The forecast high today is 97. It’s 93 right now. Tomorrow, a Winter Storm Watch goes into effect.
The forecast overnight low for Denver Monday night is 32. 1-3” of snow is expected.🤦🏼♂️
Old pic, but still true. 6 years ago today, I was officially diagnosed with brain cancer. Even though it came back in 2021, with God's help, we continue to survive and beat it back, one day at a time. My name is Brandon Robinson and I am a 6 year astrocytoma survivor. 🙌💪💜
Hey everyone! I just wanted to give you a heads up that I will be out for the next few days as we head back to Cleveland for the gamma knife procedure. Our friend
@WxManShane
will be filling in for me. If all goes well, I’ll see you Thursday morning!
Personal note: I’ll be off again Monday and Tuesday to head back to
@MoffittNews
to see my medical team. I’ll meet with the medical oncologist first and then the surgeon. With any luck, I’ll be back in Hazard on Wednesday morning! Keep those prayers going up! Love y’all! 🤍❤️🙏🏻
Day 2 update: So far, so good. The doctor said the EEG has looked good. They also performed a test to try to induce a seizure and it had no effect. If all goes according to plan, we’ll break free sometime tomorrow. Side note: One of my nurses is from Knott County! Small world!
Happy 7th anniversary to my rock, my soulmate, my person. We've been together through good times and bad and I can't imagine my life without her. I love you Steph! Here is to many more! 💑♥
I may or may not have turned the Kitten Bowl on for a minute. Of all the games on today, the KB definitely has the best referee! 🐶

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas!
May you remember the real reason for this season. God has richly blessed me and mine this year.
May your day be merry and bright and may all your Christmases (except this one, haha) be white. ❄️🎅🏻🎄✝️🙏🏻
There are a few pictures that make you stop and stay "wow" and this is one of them. Sheena Hensley sent this in yesterday from above Whitesburg on Pine Mountain. What a beautiful scene. Thanks for sharing!

5 years ago today, I said “I Do” to this beautiful woman on Folly Beach, South Carolina. She’s been with me for a lot of ups and downs and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate her for that. In sickness and in health, for better or for worse. I love you Steph!
Shocked, humbled and tears. That’s the way I will remember this day.
Thank you for all the memories. Thank you for all the highs and lows. Just thank you.

4 years ago, I had the first of what will likely be many MRI scans in my life. This was what was growing inside my head. Thanks to God's mercy & grace, that is no longer part of me. Thank you for all the love & support since then.

I got to the top of Whitesburg Mountain just in time to see this amazing scene of God’s beauty. Stunning. Absolutely stunning. No place I’d rather live.
Today would have been my dad's 75th birthday. Like I told you all last week, we lost him to a heart attack back in May 2018. I'm wearing the tie he gave me in honor of him on this Tuesday. Happy heavenly birthday Dad!
I came home to this amazing care package from my friends at

On May 12th, 2007, I moved from Morehead to Hazard to start my first job two days later on Monday, May 14th. I've been here part-time and full-time ever since. The first picture was taken in 2007, the second was taken this morning. Here's to 16 more years here at

doesn't take us back too far, but it's a day I won't soon forget. Two years ago today, I was having my second surgery to remove a second brain tumor. This picture was taken when I made it to a room afterward. Two years later, God continues to bless me!
A few years ago today, the love of my life was born. This is probably my favorite picture of us, taken at Mitchell Grogg's wedding several years ago. Happy birthday, Steph! Words aren't enough to tell you how much you mean to me and how glad I am God brought you into my life!
10/10! I finally saw it today! Steph, who is not weather inclined at all, enjoyed it! The sequel has some throwbacks to the original. Now, to get Steph to watch Twister! Yes, you heard me right. 🤦🏼♂️😂🌪️
The face you make when you know the weekend is just hours away ... or when you get a Super Nintendo for Christmas in 1990. Either or. Haha.

2 people have just messaged me in the last 5 minutes about the latest model run of the GFS for Monday that is showing a crazy amount of snow.
STOP. SHARING. RAW. MODEL. DATA. WITHOUT. CONTEXT!
Today is Wednesday! A lot will change between now and then. Be responsible. Please.
Guess who's back? Back again. B-Rob is back, tell a friend! My doctor cleared me to drive yesterday, so I'm in studio this morning! The last time I was in this building? Friday, August 27th. It's good to be back!
Just a quick update: I’m settled in at UK and look like a space alien or a super genius with my monitoring equipment on. I’ll let you all decide. Haha!
It’s a watch & wait situation right now. More to come!
If you missed why I’m here and what’s going on:
I will be off for several days this week for some medical testing.
@EvanWYMT
will be filling in for me. I plan to be back on Thursday. More details in the pictures below.
My friend and former WYMT colleague Rebecca Good is now a photographer! This picture is one of those from a mini Christmas session we did on Sunday. She did a great job! Isn't

beautiful?

: It's my 40th birthday! That may not be much of an accomplishment to most, but when you have beat back brain cancer twice in the last 6 years and have had doubts you would even make it this far, it's huge for me. Love y'all! 🎂🎉
Take a look at this amazing scene from Pike County! Roger Blackburn sent me this picture from the Lower Johns Creek area. I love seeing this gang of elk in the fog. Thanks for sharing!

Today would have been my dad's 76th birthday. He left us just a few days before my birthday in 2018. Hard to believe he's already been gone 5 years this May. Happy birthday in Heaven! I miss you.
I can't thank everyone enough for all the love, prayers & support you all have already given me and will continue to do so in the coming days.
Thank you to
@DakotaWYMT
for putting a story that left most of the staff here, and probably some of you, in tears.
We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and support from our community. Please join us in praying for our friend and coworker, Brandon Robinson, and his wife Stephanie.

Day 4 of the "so long" tour is about life itself. A lot of things have happened in my time here. I lost my mom & married Steph in 2014, had weight loss surgery in '16, diagnosed with brain cancer in '17, lost my dad in '18. Thank you all for being with me every step of the way.
I have my gray on for the first day of brain tumor/cancer awareness month. Do you? If so, share your pictures with me in the comments. 🧠🤍💜

We just went through the McDonald’s drive thru in Whitesburg. When we got to the window, the lady said the car in front of us had already paid for us and it had been going on for at least 10 cars. We kept it going! ❤️
Good morning! I will be off and out of pocket for the next couple of days as we travel to try to get more answers on my brain tumor and what comes next.
@aaronwx
and
@EvanWYMT
will take good care of you, especially if any severe weather pops up. Talk to you soon!

May 14th, 2007. That's when my journey started here at

. The top picture was one of the first I ever took at the station. Hard to believe it's been 12 years. I look just a little different. Haha. I look forward to serving the mountains for 12 more and then some.
I’m finally getting the chance this morning to let things process from the last couple of days. Now that it’s starting to sink in, all I want to do is cry. I know words aren’t enough, but the words below are all I have right now. 💔
This is the scene in Pike County right now on Little Robinson Creek. Please, do not do what this driver started to do. They were lucky. Thanks to Fayetta Newsome for sharing! Send your photos and videos here:
Ladies and gents, the Robinson’s are now the proud owners of a Blackstone. Any tips and tricks we need to know? Can’t wait to cook on this bad boy! 🍔🌭🥩🥓🍗
What a difference one year makes. On September 1st, 2021, I was in Tampa having my second brain surgery to have most of a cancerous tumor removed. Today, I’m still doing what I love. God continues to bless me. Thank you for all of your support in the last 12 months! 🤍

Today is World Cancer Day, a day to bring awareness to this awful disease in all of its forms, and there are many. 1.7 million people will be diagnosed with a form of cancer this year alone. More than 600,000 will die from it. That's just in the United States.

9 years. That’s how long it’s been since the worst day of my career & the worst day of some people’s lives. March 2nd, 2012 is burned into our memory in Eastern Kentucky. Once each year, I wear this tie, the one I wore that day, honor the 17 people we lost across the mountains.
It’s time to spread a little Christmas cheer! Tonight, I share with you the pictures of my outdoor decorations! Tomorrow, I’ll share pictures of our trees! Enjoy! 🎅🏻🎄💚❤️😁
If you have not seen this video from

, stop what you’re doing right now and watch it. It may be the most heartbreaking and touching thing I’ve seen this Christmas season.
I’ve been waiting for this for a while now. Coffee on the front porch on a crisp fall like morning! I know a lot of you all love the heat, but I’m ready to get the sweaters out of the closet! 🍂 ☕️

It’s been more than 24 hours since dad died and it’s still hard to believe he’s gone. The next two days are going to be some of the hardest of my life. I’ve lost both of my parents and fought/beat brain cancer in less than 4 years.
Here’s dad’s obit:
Well, it’s been a while. Let’s run down the check list:

• Clothes laid out for the morning ✔️
• Alarm clock set ✔️
