@bad2sentence Ok so PSA since a lot of people don't seem to know this. Bodies of water near power plants, mines or quarries can have harmfuly high pH and quantities of heavy metals, which will cause you serious health problems. They also make the water look extremely clear and blue.

@Y_Wenli Yes I'm queer. Queer for the jade marshal Wu Peifu who will uphold the legitimate rule of the Beiyang government, drive out the Japanese, defeat the blue usurper armies and clear out the red bandits. FIVE RACES UNDER ONE UNION! THE REPUBLIC SHALL LIVE FOREVER!.

@vikare06 Waterloo famously had 16,000 Soviet conscripts leased as extras, who were presumably just happy their conscription time was mostly playing dress-up instead of working potato fields. No way you can get that many extras that cheap nowadays.

@RavacholAlex Why have people decided to treat this obvious Kremlin agitprop bot that has done nothing but repost vaguely leftist coded memes every hour since 2019 like it's a real account?.

@mossacannibalis Really cool to see a different than usual depiction of Imperial religion. The AM codex clearly says that there are as many ways to venerate the emperor as there are Imperial planets, but all we ever get in official GW art is always the same Anglo pseudo-catholic pastiche. Yawn!!!.

@LadelaBackup @John_Mars3 @PunishedMetros Some absolute mouthbreater schmuck ending up at a rally like this and concluding that these guys are reasonable centrists with sensible political goals while the speaker shouts something like "Hail Victory to the Boers" is honestly an incredible bit.

@patodelcuack @nonregemesse @ProfondoRobbo Don't get me wrong he's great in it, but a sci-fi epic like Dune demands very different character work than a psychological drama like Taxi Driver IMHO.

@roun_sa_ville The whole "before glorious Russia/Serbia you were nothing but stable boys for Germans" is a trope so old, my great-grandfather already had it hurled his way. It's old hat and passΓ©. Insane that western Internet leftists are discovering it for the first time.

@laifa_l I think that this can be explained by the fact that Goscinny figured out early on that treating the Romans as just a foreign occupying force was kind of limiting plot wise. Treating them as a kind of stand-in for the French state opened up a lot of new storytelling avenues.

@1Bcherubbles @bad2sentence Ash pollution from coal powered power plants can turn bodies of water in the area a lovely shade of clear turquoise that also have a pH of up to 11,5.

@NeeedlesEye Sections of French wikipedia radiate enormous jacobin particles. I don't know if it's still the current revision, but the article for the Alsatian soviet used to say the entire operation was an evil teutonic plot under the orders of Ludendorff to complicate French reconquest.

@socialaskan Clearly the situation calls for some sort of wry and perspicacious commoner to infiltrate the exiled prince's inner circle and use their wit & cunning to help the good hearted but dull prince in reclaiming the throne, no doubt receiving a generous pecuniary reward in return.

@kermiszk @obamaatredrobin @ettingermentum This specific image comes from a cycle of paintings by an insane Russian neopagan that depicts proto-Slavs as crash-landed aryan starchildren that build an utopia in a lost Hyperborea before an apocalyptic war between them and a proto-NATO Atlantis destroys both.

@dril_gpt2 Just a casual reminder that we're currently commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Tambov Rebellion during which Lenin authorised the use of poison gas and mass executions in the face of a peasant uprising after the Bolsheviks requisitioned all of the grain.

@BadSocialism FDR should've forcibly turned the π¬π§ and π«π· into direct protectorates. Just earlier I was reading a French defence paper from the 60s that was just whining that π«π· being under NATO command meant they'd have to defend Fulda instead of being allowed to do fun warcrimes in Africa.

@DarkLaughterTDB @GravitysRa1nbow I think a lot of people kind of gloss over the Parthian side of the battle. Surena was an expert general who knew he couldn't beat the Romans in conventional warfare and reconfigured his army into a mix of cavalry and archers specifically for this battle.

@JohnWakefieId It's probably a relic from 2016 era leftism which preached unionisation as a one sized fits all panacea I would guess? You know DSA is full of annoying middle class kids that think larping as union workers is the best thing ever.

@TolkienSociety Out of curiosity - what's the internal schedule for this obviously planned bowdlerisation of Tolkien's work? How long until we get a re-edition of the classics with trans Gimli and black Aragorn? I hear they're doing good progress on that front in that Amazon series already.

@JohnWakefieId I know the US is different, but over here working for a political party means you agree to long hours/insane schedules with the understanding you'll get into some ministry as part of the "in confidence" quota of employees when you get in govt. At no point here is a union useful.

@JohnWakefieId Even before that, parties are supposed to be internally democratic with the membership at large voting through delegates on what the party fiscal policy should be, nowhere here is an employees union anything other than a self-serving clique.

@RasberryRazz @boneysoups tbf while you are right that Barry Lyndon slaps I still think its a bit of a different situation. The one-two-buckle my shoe type is much more represented in pop culture because of American/French Revolution & Pirate media that have continously featured them for like a century.

@claytonmane @NineEightSix @SyroJaziran Composed in 1709 following the battle of Malplaquet, "Marlborough is going off to war" became by far the most popular French folk songs for the next 100 years. It's said Napoleon liked to hum the tune mornings before a battle.

@your_nutt @d08890 That would imply gayness measured discretely which kind of goes against the point of a spectrum. If it's a spectrum, gayness is continuous and therefore the chances of two people falling on the same spot are astronomically small.
