I am a 100% believer in the kid fishing rods.

Smoked fish is a favorite at the halibut hut. I pulled several pieces out of the freezer and smoked up a batch.
We smoked coho salmon, albacore tuna, ling cod, and cabezon.

Cloudy eyes are a good indicator that the fish has been sitting around on the ice for a long time. Skip fish if the eyes look this milky.

These last two charts show how the whole fish starts to degrade with time on ice.
If the gills have not been removed they should be deep bright red not pale. The skin and scales should shiny not dull.

The seafood is rich in Selenium. It is good to diversify your seafood though and eat some of the little fishes from time to time as well.
All seafood is rich in selenium, which binds to mercury and makes it inactive. It’s really a non concern in most seafood.
