We had the pleasure of hosting our first Uyghur Cultural Festival! Thank you to all who came on a Thursday afternoon. We hope to continue providing the greater Boston community with more opportunities to learn and share in Uyghur culture, history, food, and humanitarian issues.

Happy Doppa day. Doppa refers to the traditional Uyghur hat. Doppa day was initiated more than 10 years ago by young leaders in order to preserve our culture. In the beginning, authorities showed some support, but not long after, they prevented anyone from celebrating this day…
This weekend we were at New England Muslim Festival talking about Uyghur culture and the current political situation. We want to thank the organizers for creating such a great event, and for all the people who stopped by to talk to us and to write postcards to Uyghurs in prison.
People in mainland China are celebrating the new year while millions of Uyghurs are still facing a genocide under CCP.

27 years ago, on Feb 5th, 1997, Uyghur youth in Ghulja protested for Justice in sub zero degree and China responded with violence. We will never forget the Ghulja massacre that took place on that day.
