NASA winched a slide wire basket into position at pad 39B today. The emergency escape system is being tested ahead of the crewed Artemis 2 mission, currently scheduled for 2025. Watch live pad views:
wtf is this thumbnail, who photoshoped merlin plumes onto a picture of booster 4 before it got engine shielding. Why not use literally any of the thousands of actual starship launch photos.
Don't understand people who use the fact that most spacex launches are starlink to try to downplay their success. Bro you're telling me they're the worlds largest launch company AND the worlds largest satellite manufacturer, sounds hype as fuck to me.
Every time i watch a falcon 9 landing i just think "damn this looks sketchy, it's not gonna make it this time" and then spacex proceed to do the most on target picture perfect landing I've ever seen.
HUGE new Glenn NEWS
new Glenn first stage that is currently att the pad IS flight hardware.
To start they plan to operate a fleet of 4 boosters all of which are currently in production, 30 day turnaround time.
They have completed 3 upper stages and 3 more are in production.
I could definitely be wrong but i think ya'll severely underestimate how much the chopsticks are gonna manhandle the booster on the first few catches. They're all gonna look sketchy af.
Please for the love of god and all that is holy please stop calling starship flights "IFT". It hasn't been officially used since flight 1. They're just called "flight" now. It's "flight 4" not "IFT 4". This is a message to all of spitter.
Seeing this after reading all those headlines that try to make the third flight test seem like a failure feels really funny to me for some reason. This one is just as bad but for the litteral opposite reason.
@kanyewest
Starship were meant to fly and our next one launches in about 3 weeks, but I recommend waiting for a few more test flights before hopping on board
@NICKIMINAJ
SpaceX have conducted a static fire test of super heavy booster 12. This is the first booster SpaceX will attempt to catch.
(footage from NSF starbase live)
Flight 5 predictions:
-launch on the 25th of August.
-no engine outs during flight.
-booster is successfully caught.
-ship lands on or very close to target.
There's a decent chance all of these turn out to be wrong so feel free to bookmark and laugh att me if that happens.
In addition to the changes in this article, numerous vents have been added to the hull of the vehicle, including possible new RCS thrusters.
While these are new on Ship 30, they will likely be on Ship 29 as well.

@NASASpaceflight
I'm guessing these new vents (there's 3 of them) are for setting the propellants inside starships tanks to relight in space. This is supported by them debuting on ship 26, the first starship to preform a deorbit burn test
If my theory is correct starship v1 can only light it's engines from it's header tank once per flight, this means it can either do an in space burn or landing burn, never both. This also might explain why ship 26 and 27 were built.
@cringe_q
He claims the only part of the pez dispenser that's installed on the ship is the door. That is incorrect as the litteral entire pez dispenser system is installed and capable of deploying starlinks if the flight had carried them.
What’s more important:
1) Connecting the entire world via telecommunications satellites & becoming an interplanetary species
Or
2) Protecting 9 bird nests in a tiny corner of Texas
When the $3500 Vision Pro came out, tech twitter and YouTubers were awfully silent about its shortcomings, issues, and lack of features that still exist day.
Now that Humane AI pin came out, it's suddenly the "worst" degice ever, even though it's only $700?
Double standards
So this was a fucking lie. In may Elon said Starship already can do 250-300 tons to LEO expended. Where the hell did the rest of the mass come from then?
50 tons to LEO with Raptor 2 and hot staging already is a fucking disaster.
Starship SN9 performed a 10km hop in February 2021. It was destroyed during landing because one Raptor failed to ignite. Elon Musk later stated that in the future, all 3 sea-level engines would ignite for landing and the 3rd would only shut down if the other 2 worked properly
People seem to seriously underestimate how big Nova is going to be. It's 132 foot(40.2m) tall. For comparison Neutron is just 9 feet taller att 141 foot(43m) tall.
Seems like the dearmoon cancellation is due to MZ getting impatient. But i honestly can't blame him, SpaceX promised a launch date that they knew or atleast should have known was impossible.
I expect to see a drastically reduced turnaround time for stage zero between flight 4 and 5. IMO it's probably one of their highest priorities because if they want to attempt a booster catch on flight 5 stage zero NEEDS to survive the launch.
Walking into work at
@SpaceX
this morning, but there’s a good reason to be reppin’
@stoke_space
! 🔥
Congratulations to the team at Stoke for hitting this major milestone!
So what are we thinking the archimedes plume is gonna look like? Is it gonna be more like BE-4 or velociraptor. Maybe something in between or even something completely different
Personally i think all methane plumes are beautiful and can't wait to see what
@RocketLab
is cooking.
@awoooouwuooooo
@danpiemont
This is a matter of execution, rather than ideas. Unless we make the heat shield relatively heavy, as is the case with our Dragon capsule, where reliability is paramount, we will only discover the weak points by flying.
Right now, we are not resilient to loss of a single tile

Starship HLS is bad for crew to the lunar surface, but is absolutely amazing for one-way cargo
Meanwhile National Team Lander is as the best choice for crew, especially under a timely manner, due to its low risk
HLS should’ve gone to Natty Team, with money for Starship cargo
Looks like booster flipped the opposite way after boostback this flight. This seemed much more correct. Could the booster have flipped the wrong way last time?
Likes not being public is good actually. It's like this on bassicaly every other platform and there was zero fucking reason for them to be public here either.
