@Nana_Gaeta @nikikaderabkova @AyeshaMahmood2 @npjAMR Thanks for the question. You can inoculate a single colony per well. However, that does not ensure reproducibility, which is the goal with MICs done in academic labs. I think that in the absence of a spectrophotometer, I would standardize the inoculum based on CFU determination.

Deadline to submit an abstract and avail of the early bird registration for the BSAC Antibiotic Resistance and Mechanisms workshop is this Friday. Always a great meeting with lots of opportunities for ECRs!

Gutted about this! Stuart was my PhD and postdoc mentor. I spent 10 years in his lab, and much of what I am today as a scientist is because of the environment that he created. He will be sorely missed!
Very sad news about the passing of Stuart Ferguson. Stuart wrote the book on Bioenergetics (literally) and was a formidable external examiner for my PhD. He was a great mentor and friend to many and will be sadly missed
