BRICS is an alliance of countries in the global south . It started with Brazil Russia China and South Africa and now Indonesia . It accounts for 42% of the global economy the G7, 28% Is Jamaica looking to join this alliance or are we standing like a deer in the headlights?

So now there is a blow to the assistance we received from USAID over the years. We should write to the US gov to say thanks then turn our minds to how we can get our own wealthy to invest in us as a way of closing the wealth gap. One step towards independence.

What the events of these past two weeks show us is that independence is a myth we don’t have it economically or politically we are totally vulnerable all we have are our people our culture our intellect and talents let’s use them wisely

Twenty years ago when I was Postmaster General I worked with the Universal Postal Union to develop a Zip code for Jamaica but a politician shut it down saying people won’t understand it. Now a private company is doing it and will sell addresses to us. Missed opportunity again!!

Also we have to brace for a downturn in remittances it’s all connected. Buckle up!!

With the new policies in the US and the threat to the Canadian economy the Caribbean should brace for a downturn in tourism people will lose their jobs cost of living is set to go up and they will travel less So what’s our back up plan?
