Yes, the separation of health into physical and mental was very unfortunate, this experiment of pursuing mental health while actively destroying physical health has been a spectacular failure.
The day we turned being healthy & fit into a point of attack rather than a virtue was the day we abandoned physical health & by extension, mental health. The fun & inviting nature of health inclusivity got choked out. Now we have a chronic health crisis. It’s pull together time.

We are all in a race, time is running down. When the clock stops a 1,000th of a second may determine if it was all worth it. What are you not doing now that you should be, to shave off that 1,000th?
Olympic medals can be decided by hundredths or thousandths of a second. ⏱️🏅 Let's relive five of the most iconic OMEGA photo finishes at the Winter Olympics, and remember that every millisecond counts on the Road to #MilanoCortina2026. #OMEGA #OMEGAOfficialTimeKeeper #1YearToGo

Build your own competence, become compact and self contained. Compact means reducing the things you need in ordeer to be at your peak performance everyday, one tool for this is fasting. Not only of the eating kind, practice windows for coffee, alcohol, Netflix, that is, times of day when you will not take these things. Also have longer periods, days, weeks, months, years, when you abstain from some substance that you find useful for performance. Find alternatives during these longer periods. Self contained means carrying within yourself the things you need for performance. Indulge your imagination for entertainment, protect your health so you do not need medications to control degenerative conditions. Make yourself valuable to others by being Ready Every Day. #Productivity #PersonalGrowth

There is a young man I work with, who emigrated to Great Britain as a toddler 20 years ago. First in his family to attend university, a top one on scholarship. Gruduated with honous in a tough mathematics based degree. Could not get a job in his chosen field, worked outside it for years while he kept trying. Now he is on his way, one foot through the door and I am watching to see how far he gets! Anything worth having is a struggle, with struggle you will suffer, but you have to try. #jamaicanbobsledcapt

I was in awe of the fantastic athletes in their fantastic equipment doing fantastic things, and doubted that I would ever be in the same class. Then a radical coach told me, 'they are nothing special, they come from societies where everyone is raised to be the best they can be and they get the resources to discover their talent and become worldclass. You can be the same, it is just targeted work and focus'. If you have the talent and you put in the work, chances are you can walk with the best of them. #jamaicanbobsledcapt

There is an increasing awareness around the world of the Health crisis we are in. This dwarfs by far any other risks we face with the possible exception of thermonuclear war (over which I have no influence). Health though, is within the reach of us all. Staying healthy as opposed to managing disease is the only route out of this crisis. This is particularly important if you are disadvantaged in any way. Simple, Inexpensive, Effective and Sustainable approaches to health are going to have to become the default position to avoid and delay sickness and reduce the costs of treatment. #SI_lo_ES I am hoping to see in the near future a properly funded , well constructed study on the use of Vitamin C to promote health. Such a study should look at the work of the late Linus Pauling in deciding how best to conduct this research. My own experience is that Vitamin C is a potent booster of the immune system, even in the absence of health and other vitamin therapies. When used as a part of a wider Vitamin regime the results are effective and sustainable, as well as inexpensive. An easy step to Making America Healthy Again which would be an example for us all. Maybe the @NIH will have some interest in this in the future. In the meantime there is a huge opportunity for the individual who with the proper use of Vitamin C to maintain better health, will have an edge in the competitive environment that is life. Time to revisit Pauling.

Level the playing field yourself, with CSI. Build your COMPETENCE, find the intersection of talent, passion and opportunity in your life, work on the skills you need. Anything worth doing will be difficult at some point. This is where you will STRUGGLE. The capacity to sustain struggle separates people and creates it own inequality, build your capacity. Keep coming, INSIST, demonstrate at every opportunity your desire and ability to participate. There are simple, inexpensive, effective and sustainable tools and techniques to build your CSI, SI lo ES.

This is how you do DEI. If there is a better story around DEI I would like to hear it. The Jamaica Bobsled Team, with me in the lead, entered an arena in which we did not belong and had no reasonable chance of acceptance. Yet in 6 years we were toe to toe with the best. This is what I learnt. Be diverse around competence. Look at the job that needs doing, understand what competencies are needed and then go out and find the best fit, focusing on strengths. Everyone comes with weaknesses and the trick is to make these irrelevant so the strengths can be effective. The focus on competence needs a commitment from both sides, society has to ensure that the building blocks of competence are readily available to all. The individual has the duty to pursue competence in the areas of talent and passion in which you find yourself. We all then need to focus on the strengths required and be RUTHLESS in making sure the most competent rise. Equity and even 'equality of opportunity' are not within our reach, no matter their desirability. Your path is going to be uphill at least some of the time. In bobsled we did not have the option to change the rules or the realities of geography, demographics and economics (GDE). We had to adapt, which included appropriating behaviours from successful Nations and working them into our cultural experience. Changing the culture which created the environment which you now look to exploit is difficult and risky as it will likely result in the collapse of the underpinnings of that culture. Be RELENTLESS, nothing levels the playing field like players who keep showing up. In the words of Bob Marley, ' dem a go tired fi see we face, but them naw keep we outta di race.' Inclusion has to be commanded, build your competence and be relentless in your pursuit, when people understand your RESOLVE, they will be forced to accept and include you, on an equal footing. #jamaicanbobsledcapt
