This is an ableist and inconsiderate decision of those running all various parks. Children and people with visible and invisible disabilities, social skills and sensitivities cannot enjoy parks in those short hours during which it would be extremely crowded.
Went to Sultan park after a long hiatus to find this fugly gate installed and people being kicked out at 6pm. There are very few green spaces and 'functioning' parks childrens parks in Malé. It is ridiculous they limit it even further like this.

Deportation of migrant workers for claiming against wage theft, as opposed to actually paying them, is nothing new. It was a recurrent frustration for those who worked on the cases, and one of the causes of conflict with immigration. Sad to see nothing has changed over the years.

This is not ideal. No one has to be on their job post and pray. The law mandates time to be given for the employees and this only indicates the inflexibility of the employer to allow for such.

The civil service needs an overhaul to move beyond the workplace bullying. The ancient beliefs and the pettiness some long serving employees holds on to like a lifeline are one of the reasons why government offices are unable to adequately utilise and hold on to quality staff.
